brickbat
We were driving today in our 96 850 and I noticed a dragging sensation, as if the E brake was on. It wasn't. I stopped to check and the front drivers side wheel was really hot. Hot enough to have discolored the normally orangeish-brown rust on the edge of the rotor to a nearly black color. No smoke, though. After it cooled off, the dragging problem went away for a few miles, then returned after a few more miles. So, should I order a new caliper, or is there some other possibility as to its cause?Jim
Volvo OD
If you can, remove the caliper try to turn the wheel. It may be the caliper or the parking brake.
drPheta
Sounds like a sticking/seized caliper. I had the same problem over the weekend. Rebuilt calipers cost about 50/per after core return. You can also have your rebuilt for about 60 bucks by a brake shop/rebuilder.
