3 Way Speaker Set Up For C70

I know the driver at the bottom of each front door in the C70 can be replaced with a 6 1/2" driver, but what about the smaller speaker at the top of the door? This appears to be a midrange driver. Do any of the better speaker companies make 3 way components? Was all set on using boston Pro 60's up front, not sure if that is still the way to go. Does anyone know what size this smaller driver is.

just get some good coaxial or component 6 1/2 speakers to replace the bottom, and disconnect the top ones. you don't need them. all they do is take away power that goes to lower speakers and make distortion.

did some more research, your c70 most likely has a specific size uptop, like a 3-4", comp set, and you are going to have a hard time finding a three way set that is going to be a drop in.

you can do this two ways, the woofer on thte bottom, fabricate a plate somehwer eon top to house the tweeter...

or, persoanlly, if you are serious about a three way comp set, midbass in the stock lower door, mid and tweet in the kicks...will sound insanely good, much better than the stock locations :)

remember, just because the stock system has those locations does not mean you have to utlize each and every one of them

Thanks for all the replies, I am however trying to keep the stock appearance. If I wanted kick panels for the separates what Co. makes them?

Thanks for the invite to the gathering in Atl. wish I could make it, where do you meet and is it the same every time?

no one makes prefab kick panels for volvos unfortunately.

i make them for VS members starting from 250 for a carpeted one, for more i can make it more stock looking etc...:)

or your local custom audio shop should be able to amke them from 3-500 bucks per pair :)

personally, i think a set of kicks with a good 6.5" comp set will sound better thanwhat ever you can stick in the door...you can ask kevin how he likes his :)

Can't make it because I have already commited to help a freind with a fence at his new house and on sat night I have a date with a really hot babe(my wife). Would love to show up the next time, any idea about where or when it might be.

Bing I might take you up on the kick panels have to wait and see what funds are like. Just had to replace the front header pipe and cat on the wifes 97 960 wagon to the tune of about $800.00. tell me that won't put a dent in your pocket.

I am stuck on boston because I had a 1988 Pontiac Formula that a Fellow named Skate at Dashboard audio in Charleston, S.C. Setup. It was awsome he cut and reshaped the defrost ducts in the dash and put the boston pro 5.2's up in the dash boston 6x9's in the rear running in mono for rear fill and one unpowered ten tube in the well in the hatch area. The 5.2's were run with a two ch. alpine rated at 60x2. The 6x9's and tube were run on another alpine amp with 2 of the 4 ch. bridged for the tube. The HU was an alpine 7914 or something like that. But the best money spent besides the bostons was on the AudioControl 4xs crossover and the AudioControl EQS. The EQ was dedicated to the front. Skate and Mike at the shop used a spectrum analyzer to set up everything and the soundstage and clarity was amazing. Of course this was all in my younger days when I had alot more money than sense, I seem to recall that the labor for just the dash part of the install was $400.00 or $500.00 I may even still have that invoice.

Not looking to try and reproduce that with the C70, But I might get close. Dashboard has since closed, don't know who skate is working for and Mike started his own custom Home Theatre install Co.

i am not a big fan of boston pros, and definetly not the Zs, to me, they are still a bit harsh sounding, but of course, they are nice speakres nd with a nice install and proper tuning, i am sure they can sound awesome.

i prefer more laid back speakres :)

hence my preference for brands like AVI, morel and DLS :)

you can do quite well with your C in my opinion...:)
