Asinine
Man, i just walked into a brick wall of future service!!I've been having a tempermental CEL regarding my purge valve which i think might be more on account of the type of gas i'm using than anything else. But on monday i did a handbrake turn and thre TRACS and ABS.My friend brought a scan tool home and checked it out.I need a new ABS module (3rd one for the car) and two o2 sensors as well as the purge valve possibly. I know a guy that can rebuld the ABS which is good, but the o2 were expenses i didn't want to have to incur!Cars blow sometimes!
nogoat
i did a 180 around my friend walking to his car, it was cool. I didn't hit him, though i was aiming for him.Anyway after that was a rattling so i took it and it was just an exhaust hanger that shook loose but they found a leak in a CV boot and some other problems with the right front end which is the same stuff i got fixed weeks before. Since then i've not done anymore stupid stuff in my car (okay well it doesn't count when its done in the snow)

I did a handbrake turn, the ABS light didn't turn on but it threw codes for incorrect speeds for both rear wheels (makes sense).
maiku
i was bombing around in the s70 when i got itafter a while, the tracs/abs light turned onafter turning off the car and turning it back on it went away hasn't come back ever since :knock on wood:do you really NEED abs?
Boomin850
Here's a Q...do you need any special part # abs control Unit or as long as it's from the same model year and all will it work? Just askin cuz mines been out for months and I might have a line on another 96 one.
the underlørd
why had no one mention Victor yet?
Asinine
From what i understand 94 and 95 have the same unit (2 models for w/ tracs w/o tracs) and then 96 on use the new (more fragile) module that also has two different types (w/tracs w/o tracs)I just did a basic one to turn the lights on. The other day we made a video of me doing one on my street and when the wagon is sideways it's practically the whole road. When i threw the lights they were on the next time i got in the car, and the time after that, but not the time after that - then came on a few mins later, then been on ever since.Even when the codes got erased (and the one code was - "Permanant Fault") the lights came on immediatly after. My theory is that when you're doing stuff like that (braking while sliding) the ABS module gets so hot it can melt some of the solder points because from what i understand the rebuild is a re-solder.I saw someone mention a guy that rebuilds them a few weeks ago on here, can't remember his price or info, but i'd like to know! FINN
one thing to remember is that if the front wheels spin while the rears stand still, the car will throw abs, and tracs lights for a while.
zimmy77
I had that happen once. I had ABS and TRACS lights on after doing an ebrake slide. when I got home I reset the codes/service light and then took it for a spin around the block. all better. I think it threw a low pressure code or something. either way, this was 1 1/2 months ago and I havent had a light since then.
MadeInJapan
If you haven't done anything stupid with your car and you get an ABS light and it goes away, don't be so happy yet...this is the way that these start. Then it gets more and more frequent and then one day when you crank the car, the ABS is on. Victor Rocha (yes, I'm mentioning him) fixed mine for $140 including postage. His "rebuilds" of the ABS modules are better than the original. I've had no problems what-so-ever out of mine since I got it back from him. Keep him in mind...do a search here for him in the vendor's section. Some Canadian guy is also advertising now, but Victor has a long track record and I've NEVER heard anyone say his fix didn't work. Your're driving a STATION WAGON, not a Porsche. You can trick it out all you want, but you can't defeat physics. You're lucky the damage was only was only to your car. In the winter. Snow... almost zero friction. It's just a perfect combination. :)
