Matts 850 GLT
HiYeah the car is getting old (1993) but anyway. When I brake there is twitch through the steering wheel. If I hold the wheel the car brakes in a straight line. I only get a twitch when I start to brake - even then it doesn't always do it?So, I am assuming a sticking caliper - which one? How do I tell?Any ideasThanksMatt
robert213
Possible Warped Rotors. If I understanding correctly, Volvo rotors cannot be turned on a lathe. You may need to purchase new ones.

Regardless, this is an early indication that your rotors will need to be replaced soon. The problem will only get worse as time goes on.If you had a sticking caliper, you would know because it would pull to one side. Sticking open would pull only when the brakes were applied, closed would pull after you released.

Was thinking, wouldn't worn rotors cause a judder through brake pedal? All I get is a definate wrench at the steering wheel when I brake.Matt
Guest Guest
You will also get a pulsation in the steering wheel. Not expensive to do this. I did on 97 GLT for $140 to the door.

Does car pull to one side when you brake? You wrote it brakes straight when you hold the wheel but does it pull or not? I'd take front wheels off and inspect not just braking system but suspension as well.
