slarti
I'm going to upgrade my struts to Bilstein HD's, and I have about 88K miles on the car. I understand that replacing the strut mounts and spring seats should probably be replaced. I've been shopping around for the strut mounts and I wondered if there was a difference between the scantech, volvo, or sachs mounts. Is the extra money for the volvo part worth it?Is the scantech part lower quality than the volvo or sachs mounts? And, does anyone know the cheapest place to get the mounts? Thanks for you help. dons850t5r
Hey, i just did my bilstien's and i found that the sping seats were bad but the mounts were fine. i don't think you can tell until you get them off.they are not cheap, i think fcp groton they are 75.00 ea. I am sorry i didn't get lowering spings though cause the front sits a little higher than before, but the ride definitly improved. Don
jda2000
BOGE (german made) is volvo's OEM supplier for the strut mounts.I got them for $16 each at imports specialists

That part looks like the strut bushing. Don't you also need the strut tower bearing, as this site calls it?
jda2000
the strut tower bearings rarely fail by 75K miles like the strut mounts do.I would definitely change the strut mounts regardless how they look, but inspect the strut bearings when they are out and replace accordingly. slarti
Does anyone know anything about the different brands that are available? I'd spend more money on the volvo ones if I knew they were better. Any insight?
