Why is that? Wouldnt it go to 17 every time you plant the throttle? I am a little confused here.

Well, between 3500 and 4500-ish rpm you may spike to that...after that its going to fade like a mofo on the stock turbo :(

Furthermore, it hurts top end power to run the turbo at the limit in the mid-range...it really gets out of breath with quite a few revs left.

I run an EBC now and the car is significantly quicker with a steady 14 psi all the way than when I was doing 16-17 dropping to 13.

actually you can do more damage vs stock setup if you driving the crap out of the car. But then again you can break stuff with a stock setup driving the crap outta the car. Just remember the more power the more wear and tear. If you treat the car right then you wont have major problems.

Its sorta like taking a bra off your girlfriend... she is going to get mad if you just rip it right off each and everytime you take her for a drive. Smooth, not jerking motions will be more rewarding, treating her right and taking care of her will be better in the long run. That doesnt man you cant have harder sex!

I installed the IPD ECU upgrade at 74,000 miles. Shortly thereafter I installed the 17g turbo, about 80,000 miles. (16PSI normally) The car already had the 2 1/2" exhaust. I broke it due to low oil condition at 6000 RPM with 242,900 on the clock. I have the engine torn down and the cylinder walls still show the cross hatch on them and virtually no ridge at the top. Stay on top of the maintenance and you'll enjoy it for a long time to come.

as for the 17psi 15psi debate,

jan is right on as usual. there may be a peak difference, but that is about it. the primary difference between the two is throttle response and a little more aggressive timing maps. i could really tell a difference between the two back to back. get the 17 ya ninny.

MTE remap. been about 4 months. so far very smooth, no problems. even dealer didnt pick up anything when they ran a software check.

i would say in fact that after tuning, im much more "careful" about driving the car than before tuning. and also, because the car is a lot torquier (and faster) in fact its not that often i get clear stretches of road to go WOT.
