gaterp
Okay guys , the wife gave me MAX 25k to spend and this will do it for this ride. Throwing a curve ball on this and do I really need it. I plan on keeping the car I buy for a very long time and I'm all over the place on what it is I want. I want to keep it below 15k-20k but this is a great deal as well. I called Benz and the service on this car is $500 per 10k. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...=en&cardist=

jb7073
BEst place for BMW e39 info tends to be at bmwtips.comExpect to spend ~$2 a year on maint is the general consenus. That said, I just picked up a '99 540iA. I love the luxury over the volvo, and the torque is nice, but the auto tranny is slower than the volvos, and I miss the turbo (the rush). My opinion: Pick up the BMW, and get a 850 as an extra car when one is availalbe. Between the service on both, hopefully you'll never be without something to drive.

Gioseppe
you can get a used legacy gt wagon with under 10k miles for under 25k bucks.... those subies are nice little cars. my dad has been selling a few now, along with volvos, and im impressed.extremly good gas mileage, awd, affordable service costs, and d: all of the above.why spend 25k on one car? get two!get her a v70, then wait and get yourself a nice R.if you want to get the bimmer and a volvo, still get a v70.or get her a bimmer/benz wagon and get yourself a v70t5m for The sportyness! or v70r, but whateva,im ramblin. S70 R
I fail to see what is so bad about 01' s60/v70's. Yes, they have the ETM issues just like 99' and 00' x70's but now that Volvo has that issue covered I don't see what is so bad about them. They're a HELL of alot more comfortable than an x70, they don't make as much noise, the T5 models have good power and they are reliable and they price on them is dropping fairly quick.-brickster151 on Jake's computer
