dragon17
Does anyone know how to remove the grille in a '99 S80? If I recall correctly, I heard that a special procedure was needed and that this is not as easily done as, for instance, in the 850 or S70. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!I am not sure if this belongs in Cosmetic or Maintenence. Moderators - please place this thread where it belongs.
Volvoson
If you post a picture of the back side of the grille, it would be easier to tell you how to remove it. I am not familiar with how it looks, and the volvo parts program isn't being a lot of help.
dragon17
I will surely try to post a picture of the back side. However, the back is only accessible from deep within the engine compartment and I don't know how to take a photograph of it as it is very hard to access with very little room. I think I read somewhere that the bumper needs to be taken off to remove the grille...
BtownVolvo
Gimme just a sec and i'll have it for you...Removal of the actual grille:Removing the casing:I really don't think it's necessary to remove the whole front bumper though... dragon17
Thank you very much. This seems like a complicated process.

dragon17
bro, its six clips you gotta pull down on with a screw driver. it won't take too long. You mean through the grille's slits from the outside? It seems that some of these clips are hard to reach but you may be right. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

loudvolvo
it wont be hard, ive taken mine off plenty of times. just pop out the clips on top and ur set, you can bend that bumper a little bit so u wont have to take the whole thing off
Jaxx
is it the same way for a S80 as an S60?

dragon17
Overspray will PWN JOO!!!That is what I am worried about. I tried, with no luck, and could not reach the top clips with a screw driver. The bottom should have 4 clips yet 2 of them are broken on the right side so that makes my job easier. However, removal of the entire bumper seems like a difficult task so I am probably going to try to place a cardboard behind the grille to protect the radiator fans. BtownVolvo
However, removal of the entire bumper seems like a difficult taskWorst comes to worst, it doesn't look that hard. It's just alot of unscrewing things
dragon17
Worst comes to worst, it doesn't look that hard. It's just alot of unscrewing thingsI already tried unscrewing the thin metal bar that runs along front of the hood. Now I just need to follow the instructions and attempt to remove the lower casing to access the remaining clips. Doing it with a screwdriver while the grille is attached is a pain in the @$$.
