IRAs and UTMAs are different than 401(k) right?

I'm just wondering because in the face of IBM, Alcoa, and more to come i'm sure moving from defined pensions to encouraging self-driected 401(k) plans whatever brokerage can grab those accounts is going to win big!

who's the best!? Anyone know if IBM or Alco have employee discount plans with Ameritrade or someone!?!!

Yeah they are different. IRAs are retirement funds, but they are a different type, and UTMA is an education fund.

I don't know that much about this stuff, I just started getting into it when I turned 18 and my Dad said alright here's the money I've been managing for you, now it's up to you.

So I've only been in the game around a year and a half.
