Gioseppe Posted January 26, 2006 Report Share Posted January 26, 2006 it's useful to downshift to 3rd when you are going downhill so your car uses the engine to brake instead of wearing out your pads and getting bad brake fade.also, if you are "spirited" driving, then you can keep it in 3rd, or 2nd to minimize the time it takes for the transmission to downshift and make you go.dont' EVER LEAVE YOUR CAR IN WINTER MODE. it slips the clutches inside of the tranny. so pretty much. no more tranny for you...
