VAVolvo
I had a MSD ignition system installed in my car today. I can really feel the difference in performance all around. I can't say how much performance it added but I hope to dyno my car soon to find out. I'll try to report back with the results asap. But, I do recommended this simple and relatively cheap mod.PEACE

Gioseppe
LOLZi just installed MY msd box in my 240 today. doesn't pop as much. lyke OMGmsd6afor a dyno run to be effective, you would have to do a before and after with the exact same parameters.i doubt it did anything drastic for hp. few ponies? I.e. brand new stock coil, wires, plugs, cap, rotor, etc. Then immediately swap the parts for the MSD stuff and get the after runs.

VAVolvo
David, what kind of difference? are u talking about acceleration? The MSD doesn't really shape the powerband any differently, it just improves the all around performance. Does it improve acceleration? I'd say yes, a bit. But the big difference comes on the top end during higher RPMs. This is what I gathered from the information sheet that came with the kit. It said that a coil uses capacitance to charge and deliver voltage to the plugs. During higher RPMs, the coil doesn't have time to recharge fully, so your losing power to the plugs. The ignition system always keeps the coil charged to the maximum capacitance and delivers multiple sparks during each cycle. Something like that. I like it, it was a good investment. Now I'm going to invest in a wideband O2 and a piggyback ECU to give me more control.PEACE!which msd system is it? MSD 6A

NataSS Inc
How did you wire the box into the system? When I called MSD and talked with them they werent even sure they could get it to work on a 5cyl motor. Some pics would be good also.
NataSS Inc
Can anyone give me some tech on this. Like mentioned in my previous post MSD told me they didnt know how to get it to work on a 5 cyl car. If I would have known you could have done this it would have been one of my very first mods. Pictures, schematics, anything............................

Like mentioned in my previous post MSD told me they didnt know how to get it to work on a 5 cyl car. If I would have known you could have done this it would have been one of my very first mods. Pictures, schematics, anything............................It's very simple and it DOES work with 5 cyl, at least the 6A does. The 6AL does not because it is designed for 4, 6, and 8 cyl and requires a input of the plug firing order. The 6A is just the general hook up and it already comes with the wiring schematic with the kit. Good luck!
850turbo
So if i get the 6BTM it should work straight forward? right
VAVolvo
So if i get the 6BTM it should work straight forward? rightI quote from the MSD ignition kit package:"The 6BTM is designed for the turbo or supercharged engine to allow the driver to retard the ignition timing based on the amount of boost being produced. The retard function can be adjusted from 0 - 3 degrees of retard per pound of boost with the maximum of 15 degrees retard. The 6BTM also features an adjustable rev limiter for over-rev protection."I would call MSD for further information if your still curious. PEACE!
