Matts 850 GLT
HiI was downtown this morning for two front tires. Half hour after leaving the ABS light came on. I had driven 20 miles since getting tires and was wondering if they had knocked a sensor or wiring.Went back and they said they'd take a look and couldn't find any fault. So, code is according to Haynes, Right front wheel sensor: intermittent signal over 25mph.Where can I look to put this right?? Bad sensor or connection or just dirt build up on pulse wheel?Any ideas?ThanksMatt
Guest AlvinL
Probably dirt knocked loose after they changed the wheel. Try cleaning the sensor.
Vitor
Most likely a damaged wheel speed sensor wire.email me so I can send you the procedure to check the sensor and the wiring.
Matts 850 GLT
Just to update!I pulled off the wheel and found the wires to the sensor chafed! Both the black and the brown were worn apart by the wheel, I guess the clip that holds the wires to the strut got knocked when the wheel was refitted. Flippin annoying as I will have to graft in new wire and reconnect the sensor.Interesting as the car threw a couple more codes on the ABS, 3-2-2 and 1-2-2.Can I use just any wire or do I need to get wire with a amp rating?ThanksMatt
Guest AlvinL
You want to try and take it back there and ask them to replace the wire? That harness is not cheap!
Matts 850 GLT
HiYeah I went back and spoke to the manager, he got them to remove the wheel and see the chafed wire, "thats what makes your ABS light stay on and theres nothing to suggest that it is our negligence as you had already gone, might have got the wire dislodged on the road"....they offered me a free four wheel alignment (approx 70 bucks). I could pursue it with legal representative but $$$$. What is the cost of the wiring loom to the passenger side? Can I just repair it with new connectors and wire?ThanksMatt
