MWvolvo850
I just read the instructions for replacing the struts... Way over my head! How much will it cost me have the local euro mechanic do the job (man hours)? Also, would it make sense to have the IPD sway bar(s) installed by the local euro mechanic at the same time? Or can I perform the Sway bar installation my self. I have all the correct tools to replace the latter but need to know how complex the process is.Thanks
beachnut
I would hazard a guess at somewhere around 4-5 hours labor on the struts at maybe ~$400 cost, that's why I've swapped them out myself on two of my cars now. I had my sway bars installed by my indie Volvo mechanic though. I know you can do it yourself, but a lift makes it so much easier since you have to drop the subframe and the steering rack. 850 GLT
The rear sway is real easy to install but the front requires a couple of jacks because you have to lower the subframe but it's not too bad. You could do it yourself without too much difficulty.

Grrrant
What about staying with stock bushings when installing sportier hardware?I'm putting Bilstein HDs and IDP sway bars on my '00 s70, and thought it might keep the ride a little smoother to stick with OEM bushings instead of harder ones...? I'm looking at putting in Scan Tech's complete A-Arms when I do the job.I've also heard the Bilsteins cause an increase in ride height, what's a good choice for lowering springs that aren't too stiff to offset this effect...?Also, does anyone know what other hardware IPD's s70 sway bar kit come with - does it include the front stabilizer/end links, etc?
