Guest matto
I have a 99 C70 coupe with the sc-901 stereo and dolby prologic Dynaudio system. I recently installed a sirius sportster receiver just underneath the headlight switch. I had no problems running the antenna wires and mounting the bracket to the dash. My biggest concern is that with the fm modulator, the sound quality is horrible. I have to change the stereo frequency when I'm on a long distance road trip to avoid interference. I'm pretty sure that there are no rca jacks on the back of the sc-901 so how do I hard wire the line out cable into the car? Which color wires should I splice and will I still get the whole dolby surround effect? I was also told that I could update the software on this head unit to allow cd-rs to be played. Please help me :)
the underlørd
I was also told that I could update the software on this head unit to allow cd-rs to be played. Please help me you were lied to! here's what you do, take the two tabs out on the 901, and slowly pull the HU out of the dash. Then, unhook all the wires in the back. Then take the 901, and gently lower it into your garbage can, and proceed to drive to a local audio shop, an purchase a new adftermarket head until, a Metra harness, and metra lower DIN pocket. AnthonyR
Your best bet is to get an aftermarket deck. if that isn't feasable pick up a hardwired FM modulator that goes inline with your antenna wire behind the radio or better yet get an input adapter from dr lava or someplace like blitzsafe. IPD now sells the PA11 that I had bought before they carried it. It is a great unit and works perfectly for my XM. I opted to stick with the stock head unit for more then one reason, but primary because it was good enough and I like the stock looks. this box is well worth it... IPD has it for $169 it is IPD EH3E8000. You'll have to call them, they haven't updated their web page yet... But here is what it is:http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/PA11VOL.htmlexcept IPD has one for your car.Edit: this is actually the one for you car... http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/PA11HON.htmlyou can get it from this site or any other. Click "Compatible Vehicles" to make sure. This model only has the AuxIn, not the Ipod interface, but you only need the AuxIn.The only other thing you need is a 1/8" to RCA cable. That can be found at radio shack.Best of luck!

I can play the CD that is in mine, OR go to 6 disk mode, where the input comes from. I would say that you can get the unit for much cheaper then from IPD, I was just using it as an example of a reputable source. If your spending $100, yeah that seems like a lot, but I just cant stand the single din head units that look like they were designed to light up the interior of a civic bright blue, and when you look at double din (which still looks sorta out of place) like the D1 you are talking $1400. So it is a small price to pay. Stick with stock!
Guest Guest
Hey man, what kind of suspension are you running??????? That thing looks slammed! As far as I know it's lowered 2 inches...I bought it that way last spring from a dealership. On the top of the strut tower there is a "ride handling" screw that i can adjust, which i just keep at soft because you can feel EVERY Darn BUMP! Thing that sucks is that i smoked a 60lb racoon the other day and the bumper is cracked now.
