USMC850T
I actually had the muffler put almost exactly where the stock one sat, and it dumps exhaust into an elbow straight at the pavement. I was hoping this would leave me a little more room to work with when I put my rear sway in.
BeachRat
that guy is a nice guy. take it somewhere else. i forgot to mention in the PM that in the little metal brace plate at the middle of the car, they had to unscrew it, put the pipe under it, and then add a few washers to make it sit lower just so it wouldn't rub. EASY as heck for clearance.I had to do the same thing, then I got smart and just took that brace off - mine rattled against it way too much. I figure, as long as no monkeys or hobos hang off it, it won't sag down. The rear portion past the gas tank and rear spring/shock is a PITA but totally possible, especially with 2.5". prasamin
Will, is that crush bent piping I see?nice clean pics....gives a better view of everything....and mine is pretty loud, but it sounds good. definitely not a bad loud, and if I ease onto the pedal, then you can barely get noticed. that's all I have to do to avoid cops, is ease on the pedal, so no issues at all unless they catch me by surprise those bloody cops! whatme
Thanks merlin, that about what i was thinking, except with a smaller race muffler inplace of the one you have and then a smaller round muffler at the end to quiet it down a little. Sweet pics.

whatme
ok, well i wanted people opinion on the latest estimation for the cost of my exhuast system but i didnt want to start a new thread so here it is.Ok, well today i went to another exhaust shop, actualy more of a auto performance shop, and had another estimate done. This time the shop didnt even have 3 inch piping at all. Whats up with that? The biggest they had was 2.5" and the guy didnt even offer to order larger piping so i didnt ask. On top of that, the guy estimated somewhere around 280-350 in labor. That seems kind of rediculous to me. And then he estimated that a good cat would be around $200. Again, seems very high. Arent the magnaflow cats, not the extremely expensive ones but the other "performance" ones, only like $100?. He estimated around $600 for a full turbo back, assuming i would be willing to go with the 2.5" (which would be compression bent fyi), and that was without even looking under the car where he could see how much of a pain in the jerk it would be to get to the turbo. Are there absolutely no reasonable exhaust shops in sothern missouri or did i just underestimate how much a custom exhaust was going to cost? RAzOR
Merlin, your exhaust 180 looks way too close to the fuel filter from the pics. And it looks like your tank is leaking. And there ablsolutely NOTHING derogatory about crush bent piping. I defy anyone making 350 hp and below to show me any proof that mandrel bends are worth the $$, on 3" piping, even 2.5"
gattigang
Here's mine ....... I'm told this is the only complete 3 inch made by VMS. I did install a resonator a week later after the install, I couldn't drive it because it was way too loud for me and the kids hated riding in the back. g@ttigang
RAzOR
Gatti I can see how the kids might find it slightly uncomfortable. That muffler is about as big as the flex connector on the down pipe. Are you taking offers on the exhaust?
