It takes it down pretty considerably althought I haven't driven above probably 35 with the stereo off. As for putting it under your carpeting, talk to bing he has more experience with these types of things. One thing I can attest to is that it does definatly make your bass sound a lot cleaner since all of the misc. loose parts in the trunk have nothing to rub up against. It also gives a very satisfying "thud" sound (as opposed to a thud/rattle/clunk sound) when you close the trunk and you can tell that its doing a good job. I'll drive with the stereo off for a few minutes today to check out road noise.

oh oops hahaha, the only size my supplier sells peel and seel is byt eh 100ft rolls haha...

good deal..

as for putting it under carpeting, its ALOT of work, and perosnally I dont recommend it unless you are serious about making your car as quiet as a new mercedes...and personally, It hink our cars are pretty quiet, quiet enough for the daily driver/stereo listener

but if you do want to go into such an adventure, you basiclally strip your interior, seats, panels, carpeting, anyhting that can be removed to reveal the floor or hte sidewall, and just put tons of dampening to cover it all...makes ure to makr any pre exsisting screw hoes so you can find them later...

Sounds like to much work for me, the floor that is. Don't want to go through that much for something that might not help very much, and be easy to mess up too.

Can't wait to get some though for the trunk and doors, are we going to get an actual list going? I could go for 50 sq ft, MAYBE 75, and those speakers possibly too, depending on money. Just gave my dad over $160 and found out I owe him another $50.

As far as noise recution goes when driving with the stereo off, it does give a noticible difference. I haven't yet worked in the front of my car and can still hear the noise from my Futura Challenger GTH tires (horrible things - don't wear well and are rrrrrreeally loud - don't get them). But overall I had someone sit in the back with a seat folded down going at about 60 and there is a large difference. Insted of hearing 4 wonderful spots of tire noise, it was down to about 2. I think that I may go back in and put more peel and seal over the wheel well in the back to make things even more dead. --Brian

  • 2 weeks later...

Just did a friends 93 Buick Century (similar sized car) and went thru about 5 rolls of the 33.5sqft rolls (used somewhere around 170sqft and that was without the doors (probably need another roll or so) and that was 2 layers everywhere (roof, floor, trunk, etc.

I'm estimating around 200sqft to do my car when I get around to it. We picked it up at menards (had to go to 3 different stores to get the amount we needed)
