RAzOR
Someone please tell me how much damage is being done to my car when I hear (and feel) a creaking noise in the front suspension everytime i'm turning the wheel tightly, typically when parking.Probably no damage. It could be your control arm bushings or your steering tie rod ends. No big deal either way. If you are feeling a clunk when you brake (or let up on the brake pedal) it is your control arm bushings. If not, more than likely your steering tie rod ends. Not a costly fix.

uscgc70
Definitely grease the steering stops. just find the heaviest grease you can and smear it all over the spot that is devoid of all lubrication. it should be white plastic
GTM2U
Someone please tell me how much damage is being done to my car when I hear (and feel) a creaking noise in the front suspension everytime i'm turning the wheel tightly, typically when parking. While grease may solve this problem it should be remembered that sounds and noises are very subjective. Some people just can't resist pulling on the steering wheel an extra inch or so once it has reached it's stops. This causes the power steering pump to go into overpressure mode and force the pop-off valve to release, additionally the pump drive belt can slip. If the wheels are rotating and the CV joints are badly worn some owners could describe these noises as "creaking". ............... As for damage it could be none to breaking something. To check some of this it may be helpful to put the steering in full lock with the engine running and the car in park, then lift and push down as needed on the wheel arch by hand without damaging any body work. You may be able to feel the suspension at the same time to better locate the source of the sound. A spray can of white grease will work just fine and save from having to get too involved. Let us know what you find. Cheers, GTM2U
Volvo Virgin
Let's not forget the bushing on the steering column that goes thru the firewall. They are notoriously creaky, but an easy fix as they just need to be popped out and regreased.Easily differentiated from bump stops as it will creak all the time, not just at full lock, and is definitely most noticeable when going slow, such as while parking.
