I would say get an LED bulb before you go HID... If you get a couple 5w luxion LEDs and throw them in a BAU15s housing, you will be good to go!

do you have a link by chance? ima n00b when it comes to electrical, can i just swap in the LED...or must i hardwire in the aforementioned housing...

I don't really condone this, as it is highly illegal to be running dual foglights BECAUSE they're often mistaken for brakelights. But it's an easy solution to your problem.

Not to jack the thread or anything but I run w/ my rear foglights on on rainy days and etc.

Cars like Jaguar XJS, Range Rover / Land Rover are some of the few cars that do come w/ two functioning rear fog lights.....

Most US drivers do not even know what rear fog lights are and just assum that one of your brake lights are out when they see a single fog light.....

I have been infront of many cops over the years w/ my fogs on and never got in trouble.... If they are "highly" illegal how do you explain cars w/ 2 OEM fog lights in the back out of the factory.....

I think this is just a myth! Based on this argument having your front fog lights on all the time should be "highly" illegal too..... In most Europen countires you get in trouble for having ANY of your fog lights on on a nice day..... I 've never heard of anyone in the US getting in trouble or two rear fog light being illegal.

  • 1 month later...

1. open sunroof

2. hold empty coffee cup with thumb, index and middle finger.

3. elevate arm so as to clear sunroof threshold

4. open fingers apart in a quick motion while slightly thrusting upward.

5. step on brake pedal for good measure.

the above statements are the feelings of the poster, and not necessarily of this board as a whole.

....or you could just do what I usually do when getting tailgated in the RIGHT lane...just get off the gas and coast...by the time you get down to 35 on the freeway, they will change lanes.

For bumping up a month and a half old thread with a joke!

You the man Rod!!! Tailgaters ftl though. And I am pretty sure a rear pointed HID is HIGHLY ILLEGAL! But to each his own, just hope that the inspection place dosen't test the Euro tail light.

Wait, are we talking flashing as in pushing the button on and off? Or somehow linking it to the hazards?

Put a stock bulb on the other side, too, then just flick them on for a sec or two. It looks like brake lights and they should back the monkey off...

I have this on my car and it works like a charm!

When my hids ignite, they start with a really bright flash (full intensity) and then immediately dim, then slowly warm up to full again. I think the initial flash would be very effective

However, if I catch you DRIVING with your HID foglight on, like all the assholes in this country who drive with rear fogs on, I reserve the right to modify your car. With a baseball bat

HAHA :):)

I'm currently running with the brake lights tied to the fog lights (both sides). So whenever I brake, both lights light up... from what i've noticed... the rear fogs have a lil plastic lense that tends to divert the light more straight behind... it seems a bit brighter than the brake lights.

Obviously I figured out a way to wire it up so that I can switch back to a single set of brake lights and use one side of the rear fog lights.

I've tried using LED bulbs in there and they were crap... so low brightness and so crappy. Using the 1 Watt and above LEDs require heatsinking... I don't think that would be easy to do in the size of a small bulb.

i believe the admin searched once and located something that mentioned fog lights are fine for both sides so long as they are as far apart as physically possible.. then again, i have seen a few a6 with the two little lights beside the license plate in the middle used as rear fogs..

Most Mini Coopers that i've seen have their rear fog dead center below the bumper level, looks like a trailer hitch. I have to admit, following the Mini is a bit annoying, cuz their light is really bright and really low to the ground... my eyes tend to follow instead of looking forward.
