OzzyR
This looks like what I need to conect my iPod to the standard head unit, but befor I order it, does anyone use one or know if its a good option?blitz ipod thingy Thanksand now I just found this one, which costs more... is it just a different model that does the same thing?another blitz thingy
Mike_P
I have the adaptor in you second link, it is not ipod specific and works fine. The other one will charge the ipod and plug into the dock port as well.If you get the ipod-specific model you do not have to buy anything else (maybe a cradle), but with the generic one you may need a way to provide power and for the best sound you will need an another adaptor to get line-out from the ipod (vs. head phone jack) and an RCA cable to run from the blitzsafe to the ipod.Long story short, the blitz solution is a good one if you want to retain the factory radio and don't mind having to control the ipod through the ipod (vs the stock radio). If the ipod-specific solution allows mounting where you want it (the cord is long enough) I would go with that as you will not need anything else. Fake Name
Ah ok, I just asumed both out puts woul be line level... whats the dif?Could be impedance, not sure the technical difference, but the dock connector provides a true "line out", intended to be amplified. I've tried it both ways, the dock connector is much better.fn
crazykn
output vs input impedance will not match that is one thing... if impedance doesn't match the frequency response will be altered. Just not sure which way tho. The line out will provide the cleanest signal, because it will not be already amped up by the internal amp. The amplifier will add its own characteristics to the sound and thats not always the best. If the signal comes out from the line out before the amp, it will be the cleanest and most unaltered possible signal
