pfeener
I decided to fix the check engine light I've had for a few years since my emissions test is coming up. I replaced the air pump; front O2 sensor (PO130 code); and plugs, wires, cap and rotor (PO30X misfire codes). I've cleared the codes and driven a hundred miles or so; no codes at all, none set or pending, but 5 of the monitors are still not ready. I've tried running the "trip" partialy through to see if it would bring at least some of the monitors into ready state, but no luck. Am I just being too impatient or is there something else I need to do.98 S70 GLT
MakGT
Look at Volvo's website, they tell you how to get the car to be emission ready. Before you do anything, I recommend driving the car the way you normally do to work, get it warmed up, let it idle for 2 min. and check again. If it doesnt work, follow what Volvo tells you in the manual they have at their website

pfeener
Thanks for the link AlvinL. I had located the same information in a TSB. I tried running part way through one of the "trip" sequences to see if it would bring some of the monitors into a ready state, but no such luck. I also drove about 100 miles over 3 days time; both highway and urban driving conditions and none of the monitors had come into a ready state. Sounds like a similar issue that the person in your link had as well. I was really just wondering if there's something else I can check or do or if I just need to wait it out for a month or so. There are no DTCs set or pending so I think everything is working OK.

Some of them are dependant on others. For example, Catalyst will never go ready until the o2 sensor monitor comes up ready.
pfeener
I put some more miles on it today and some of the monitors are starting to complete. (patience has never been my long suite) The secondary air and the oxygen monitor are still not ready but all the others are complete. I have a pending PO410 code which explains whay the secondary air monitor is not complete. I have replaced the air pump and the air pump relay in the main fuse box. I didn't replace the check valve, but I ordered one today as the next thing to try. Anything else anyone can suggect for a PO410 code would be appreciated. I checked out the wiring diagram for the air pump circuit in alldata, but it appears to be from a previous year as it doen't quite match up to my 98 S70. Does anyone have the correct wiring diagram for a 98 S70?
