Halset Turbo On An 850?

Anyone tried putting one of the cummins turbos on a white block like the red block guys do yet? Or is it more hassle than its worth? I am kicking around a couple of ideas right now. I have a buddy that has a halset laying around and figured I would check into how hard it would be to make work before throwing him a price.

TIA

Holset?

AS long as it will physically fit, it should be no different than installing a t3/t4 or similar.

I'm not too familiar with them so i don't know that turbine flange it uses. If it has a T3 footprint, you can machine the lip off the manifold and it will bolt on.

You'll need new oil lines, cap off the water lines or new new ones if it's water cooled, rework the downpipe and intake connections tuning etc.. external wastegate?

Putting a Turbo specified for diesel seems like it would be a problem on our (gas) cars because those turbos use alot of fuel. Correct me if I am wrong.

turbos dont use fuel, engines use fuel, diesel turbos are the same a gasoline turbos, just a whole lot bigger

The problem is the internal WG, if it got one, it´s too small for a gas engine.

Another thing is the EGT, diesel engines runs cooler and diesel turbo´s often got other materials inside, melting risk when used on a gas engines.

And a last thing, rpm´s, diesel turbo´s are not built to rev as fast as a gas turbos. Often strong but non-precise bearings.

Besides this, a truck turbo will do the job and give you hp´s. At least for a while. :)

They can handle a lot of boost but not revs, perfect for V8 engines.

HY35W.

I want to get on TDR but you have to be a subscriber :( and I'm not about to pay the money to do it just to search through it.

Atleast with the Volvo sites you don't HAVE to pay to get on it, definitely not $35/year.

even just to lurk? I'm still a member, that site kicks serious ass.
