Chipping + Cutout

HELLO!

I´m new here and I have same problem(mystery cutout above near 4000 rpm) with my ´02 XC70 2.5T even I use 98 Oct premium fuel(iI living in Spain). I chanced almost all related to boostcontrol and MAF sensor.

My car run with new BSR PPC repro, when I set original software all work perfect but when I flash new BSR sofware in,result when I floor 4th or 5th ECU drop boost to 7 psi(0,45bar) reaching 3700 rpm, this happens on road and also my workshop 4x4 rollingroad.

I has take contact to Sweden with software creador and they recomended to chance BCS(very common failure on v70 II serie) and MAF, whitch I do and still ECU throw P1237 DTC(overboost) and continue odd behaviour.

My opinion is that stock BCS are too lazy to keep boost pike´s out and that why ECU cut the boost, I ordered EBC(Greddy profec) to try if this will help keep boost stable....

BCS are fine buty they can fail from time to time.

If your ECU reduces power to 0.45 bar then you probably hit an overboost situation which could be caused by a broken BCS or vacuum leak. The other option is BSR using to much timing and boost for the warm climate..

;)

Ok I finally got a chance to put the new plugs in, and I'd say they worked. NGK's, 1 heat range cooler than stock. I was hitting 17 again without trouble tonight. Nice to actually be able to put your foot down when you want to!

This might be the cure I'm looking for...

My misfire issue...

I think I have exhausted all other choices. It may have to do with our colder climate. (you in NY, javadoc in AK, and myself in MN) air densities and such... I'll give it a try as well! (sorry for the hijack)

so are you running the RC7YC's?

I just put in some RC7YC's last night.. gapped them to .022 (I don't have a .023 blade for some reason on my feeler kit...), and I'll let you know if I found anything different in my boost kill. It was too slick this morning to try it out. I also found a Shell station in town that's selling Sunoco 104 unleaded, for $4.99/gallon, but you cannot pump it into your PV on their property (offroad use only BS). If the plugs don't do anything, I'm going to try some, just to see if it makes a difference.

That should isolate the problem for sure. Then you'll know if it's that or something else.

Right. I'm going to try it with and w/o aquamist, just to see if there's a difference for the spark plugs. Then I'll drive over and pump myself some 104 and see if that does anything except double my fuel costs.

50/50 blend is more than adequate.

 wow, I wish we had it for that inexpensive down here, that's sweet. sorry to hear that the plugs didn't make a difference... now time to spend twice as much on gas.

Wow you guys are gapping stupidly small, which isn't good for spark. I'd recommend changing plugs all together I don't use RC7YC's anymore because the ceramic kept breaking on end. They gumed up one supra engine.

After changing out the stock volvo plugs I replaced them with NGK BCPR7ES and I've never had a porblem. I boost 20 PSI @ 4000 RPM then drop to about 12 by redline. Here's the best thing my gap is .32.

I noticed the missing like crazy when my distrbutor and cap where too worn to give a good spark. Replacing them gave me back all the power.
