Ride Height Issues With Lowering Springs.

I was looking at the eibach lowering springs for my car. The problem i see is with how low it will make the car. If my car is another in lower it seem as though the body will practicaly be resting on the outside of the wheel well. Is it the combination of the 17" rims and the lowering springs that would cause this or am i not seeing it quite right. It apear that the edge of the wheel well where it connects to the body is right over the edge of the tire, and considering it isnt more than an inch an a half of the tire that seems to be a problem. Has anyone had the problem i think i might have? Thanks for the help.

Eibachs and rubbing? I think not. As long as you have good shocks and struts, the car will not be lowered that much. on really hard cornering or if you go over bumps at 50mph, the tire will hit the fender, but otherwise you'll be just fine

i have eibachs with bilsteins, and 18" wheels running 225/40/18 and I get rubbing in the above mentioned conditions. it happens a little more when the tires are brand new, but as they wear down, it happens much less. I'm at about 50% or less tread now, and it doesn't rub at all except on dips at 80mph, and that was because I didn't see the dip.

Just went out and checked again. The body panel is about an inch and a half of the tire almost exactly. Its at 90,003 miles  . Just had it serviced and the mechanic didnt say anything so i doubt that the wear on the shocks and struts is anything over average.

Maybe im just being paranoid but it seems to me that with the wheels pointed forward that if the car was lowered there would be only like a milimeter of clearance between the side of the wheel well and the sidewall of the tire. Should lower about an inch and a half is whats claimed so it seems like there would be almost no clearance....its probably just me being paranoid...

AFAIK, Eibach or any spring manufacturer quotes the drop of the 850 Turbo. If you have a T5R or R then your car is already lowered 30 mm from the factory, I know mine is.

whatme: you should have no problems with Eibach springs. they probably provide the smallest drop of all the springs available. The factors you'll need to take into consideration for determing wheel fitment are: wheel diameter & width, wheel offset, and tire size

the 850 T-5R and 850R models are only about 10mm lower than 850 Turbos...not 30mm...I'll find the press release/specifications and report back

check out this thread to see what wheel & suspension combinations worked for other people
