tallahasseegreys
On the back of the "flap" that covers the fuel cap, it gives 2 different pressures to run in the tires. One is 36 psi in the front and 41 psi in the rears. This is "recommended for fuel economy."The other is 32 in the front and 31 in the rears...quite a difference. What's the deal with this? I currently have them running at the fuel economy settings. What do you guys run?The tires on my base 850 are 195/60 VR15's. Thanks.
Bay13
I run my tires at 40psi front and rear, good for tire wear, not worried about ride comfort from the tires, if I was I'd have tires with a bigger side wall and stock shock and struts on the car.In the shop when doing a service I set all the tires at 38psi. Most are not low profile tires.
XtremePsionic
If you don't pull any Gs in corners, you can go ahead and use 32-35psi. Don't go too low tho, or handling could become dangerous. You have 15" tires, with a lower pressure the ride will be quite comfortable. For best tirewear/performance, 38 or so is pretty good. DEWFPO
The lower pressure recommendation is the 'comfort' setting.DEWFPO
tallahasseegreys
Thanks. I'll try 38 front and rear. Right now with 41 rear it feels like my rear tires are ROCKS.
ziddey
hmm. my rear tires are practically new (left was last year, right is today). my fronts are about 3-4 yrs old. needlesstosay, they are almost gone (probably another year). what good do back tires have? by that, i mean it would be much more advantageous for me at this point to put the new tires up front and stick the worn ones out back? i mean, my car is fwd anyway. im thinking i can pull in at least 2 more years out of those ones. James A Sousa
I keep the ratios between the pressures that volvo recommendsF - 36 R - 41orF - 35 R - 39orF - 34 R - 36orF - 33 R - 34orF - 32 R - 31In the 855R we run F - 35 R - 39 around town and F - 36 R - 41 when the car is loaded for a trip.In our 855 we run F - 34 R - 36 around town and F - 36 R - 41 when loaded. jda2000
I keep mine at 35 psi all around, easier to remember and the ride is not that harsh.
sam&jake
I used to vary between the two Volvo recommended pressures. I'd pump it up to 36/41 for family hauls with two kids, two dogs, tons of luggage, plus a roof rack full of gear. Of late, I just keep it at 36/41. I don't notice much ride difference any more, plus I can't complain about the wear on my tires. Over 60k and lots of tread left (Michelin X-one's).
