The Poi
So my b6304 block had a cracked sleeve which made for a blown headgasket on the shakedown run (960 turbo project). So I'm in the market for a b6284t block, but I gotta coupla questions.First, does anyone have any pics of the oil filter mount of a 99+ whiteblock? My 960 pan will bolt onto the block fine, but apparently the block has the threads for the filter stud on engines with the spin on style filters, and the pan has the threads for the new cartridge types. Since I don't want to dissassemble my new shortblock and get it to a machine shop for threading, I'm trying to figure out another way to moutn the filter. It is indeed true that all the 99+ blocks didn't have threads in the block for the oil filter stud, correct?Second, whats the oil feed and oil drain like on the 99+ whiteblocks? Any pictures? i need to figure out how to run my lines and what if any adapters I need to get before I find a shortblock to use...thanks for any help
Guest Guest_Swedish Mike_*
Just buy the new filter and cup, they got them both in a "service pack" at Volvo. The new type is a plastic cup with large threads and a paper filter inside, you only change the paper part later on./Mike

I thought you would use the FWD S80 oilpan with the new filter./Mike
mAydAy
I think what he's trying to say is he will be using the oilpan from his 960 because the FWD S80 oilpan most likely won't clear the crossmember in the
Slater
I would just convert to an external oil filter personally. You will get increased oil capacity, better cooling, and quicker/easier oil changes. Wouldn't be hard at all.
