That's assuming the VR-4 is in tip-top shape. 99% of them on the road are completely run down and probably don't make over 260-280bhp, and the ones that are kept up well usually have over 500awhp.

Actualy it looks pretty run down. Doubt the guy has maintained it since it looks like he hasnt washed it in the past couple years. Actualy doesnt sound like it runs very well either... huge loud rattle under the hood even at idle....

That's like asking me if I'm ever gonna get to a dyno...I say yes, then I decide I don't feel like spending $50 for 3 pulls. I will however get my car dyno'd after I get my ST chip in, then again when I put in my 5-spd.

A friend of mine raced one in his S60R and he told me the acceleration was quite the same....no one was really much better. I think it was a stock 3000 gt.

I you want to find out which cars you can race in your Volvo just measure some times with a stop watch and compare them to the times on this German site: http://www.track-challenge.com/main.asp?us...=singletest.asp there are the times of lots of sport cars and you will see that a Volvo isn´t that bad from 80...120km/h :D

Just wondering, but what do yall think would be the outcome of my T5-R vs. a 3000GT vr4 twin turbo? They only have 278 hp and they are pretty dang heavy...

i think the vr4 might win... easily because it's 0-60 time is like 5.5 seconds i think, compared to your T5's 6.9 or whatever, you're right about the thing being heavy but it's got a ton of torque, like 315lb/ft to back it up

+1

5.5sec sounds right

even if he's hurting his 0-60 time can't be more than yours..........

Actually I bet the 5.5 sec 0-60 time is with a very good driver and a very high clutch drop. I used to own a DSM and the 0-60 was all about how bad you wanted to smoke your clutch. Do you think the driver knows how or wants to do to a 4500+ rpm clutch drop? And the big question is will the tranny survive it?

Also 315 lb/ft of torque isn't a ton when you consider the car weighs in at close to 4000 lbs. With a chip and some mods a T5 can make that. I'm not saying the Volvo will win, but there seems to be a lot of mag racing going on with the 300GT VR4. Most of the ones I see are beat to crap. Very few are the ones that are actually tuned. Either way you need to know how to drive to make an AWD manual car fast. If you don't it is bog city and playing catch up.
