wlfbronco
2006 First Annual Volvo East Coast Oceanfront GTG Mark your calendars for April 29, 2006, an event you won’t want to miss! The first annual Volvo East Coast Oceanfront GTG will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Pacific Avenue and 18th street at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.FREE catered barbecue lunch buffet provided for all who come! There are lots of activities for those who choose to make a weekend out of it, and Virginia Beach is having a “Cruzin’ Beach USA” car show the same weekend, which will take place on the boardwalk. We have reserved a lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and there is going to be an optional burnout competition in the same lot at 5 p.m. The burnout competition is open to anyone, not only Volvo enthusiasts, and is part of the “Cruzin’ beach USA” activities, but anyone can enter for a fee of $20 per vehicle. Bring yourself, your friends, and most importantly your Volvos. This is one event you don’t want to miss. For info on lodging, nightlife, and shopping check out www.vabeach.com or www.hamptonroads.com/travel/visitorsFor purposes of directions, the zip code is 23451. All roads lead to Virginia Beach. When approaching from the west, the easiest routes are Interstate 64, U.S. 460 or U.S. 58. From the north and south, convenient routes are Interstates 85 or 95, U.S. 17 and U.S. 13 (crossing the world-famous Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel, a 17-mile span connecting Virginia's Eastern Shore with Virginia Beach [this has a $12 toll]). These routes intersect with Interstate 64, which connects with the Virginia Beach-Norfolk Expressway, Interstate 264, and leads directly to the Virginia Beach oceanfront. If you need a car wash, one is located at the corner of 17th street and Baltic Ave. Coming down Pacific Avenue, pass the parking lot where the GTG will be held, and turn right on 17th street. About three and a half blocks up on the right is the car wash (at the corner of Baltic Ave.). It has four wash bays, and one drive through car wash, vacuums, etc. Sponsored by Shawn Roberts, Parts Manager at Phillips Volvo; Randall Bullock, of Alcon Automotive; Phillips Automotive; Phillips Volvo, Inc.; and various other Virginia Volvo enthusiasts.Hey do we have to pre register or anything or just show up and pay the money ? CHARGER69O1
The whole thing is FREE. We are not charging anyone and there is no pre-registration. I will probably make a RSVP thread just for food purposes and car count.

CHARGER69O1
Like VolvoD said, no cost except for the burnout comp. If you want to do that you can pay the manager from the VA Beach events staff. I may participate in my wagon but still not sure. I think that that doesn't start till around five though. We have the lot until two but I was told that we could hang around for a while after that if we want but no later then four. LOL, Viking ! CHARGER69O1
Well I understand that it is a long drive. There are lots of other things to do if you make a weekend out of it. If you come down and go back the same day that would be a lot of driving, believe me I have done it before. We drove to KC for the VCOA meet last year that was 2400 miles round trip, left Thursday night @ 9:00 and back to work on Monday. Never again. I thought that I was going to go insane! Not that I already wasn't. I really wanna go to this but............ 18: End at Virginia Beach, VA 23451, US Map Total Est. Time: 4 hours, 54 minutes Total Est.
