Well I understand that it is a long drive. There are lots of other things to do if you make a weekend out of it. :) If you come down and go back the same day that would be a lot of driving, believe me I have done it before. We drove to KC for the VCOA meet last year that was 2400 miles round trip, left Thursday night @ 9:00 and back to work on Monday. Never again. I thought that I was going to go insane! Not that I already wasn't. <_<

man that isnt that bad of a drive.. i am from pittsburgh pa and live in norfolk now ... i drive to pa at least 2 weekends a month and it reallly isnt a bad drive at all.. hey it is worth it .. just so you can show off your volvo and see everyone else's.. it'll be fun

If you're passing through MD... Might I suggest:

Rt. 5 from 495 heading East or is it South... Either way, you'll go pass Andrews AFB (to the North).

Rt. 5 connects to Rt. 301 South, there is some nice country and road to drive on. There are also some well placed fuel/food stops along the route.

Then turn left onto Rt. 17 (East, maybe South), in Va, heads right out to Virginia Beach. Follow it through the nice country side and towns... Eventually you'll connect to 64 to "Va. Beach".

My brother told me of this route once and it works nicely, less 5 0 on this route for you adventurous ones. Google Earth has a good map out for it. I'll gladly meet people somewhere on 495 North of DC. Maybe the Ikea parking lot at Rt. 1.
