2p3capri
Hello,I was replaceing the PCV system on my 94 850 Turbo when I ran into a slight snag. When removing the clamp and hoses from the Fresh Air Intake (Right before the turbo inlet), the whole assembly popped out of the freash air hose. This is a problem becuase the "gasket" that was on it appears to of completely desolved into a mushy slushy mess. I was hoping someone here could at least tell me what this part is, and if the gasket portion is replaceable. I like to at least have an idea of what I'm asking for before I venture out to the parts department on monday morning. Here are some pics showing the part I am refering to.So.. Anyone know what it is, and if the gasket can be changed?

ericutexas
I remember reading something about this part once when I was doing the PCV on my car and that the gasket can't be replaced by itself, but I could be wrong. What's the part number on it? I'll try and see if I can't look it up in the parts program and see if the gasket is listed separately.
Gregg
i don't believe just the gasket can be swapped out.is that a part number on the side of it? if so, try that with the parts department. you could also try a junkyard or fcp
lax01
you cannot replace that part...you have to replace the entire Air-Intake hose (~$80-100 from the dealership)by the way, invest in a $5 box of rubber gloves ;)
ericutexas
Clean off the oil and epoxy it in place maybe?

You should see my hands after they've been covered in carcinogenic condensed oil vapors.I did what eric suggested and epoxy'd it in... haven't had any problems since. 2p3capri
Thanks for the help guys, I purchased a used intake hose and will replace it as soon as it arives. As for gloves, I usualy wear one of my 5 pairs of mechanics gloves, but for a job like removing the intake, I feel better using bare hands. Rubber gloves just tear far to easily, and have a tendency to be "fluid numb".

prasamin
that's the PCV valve/heater.very important piece though it doesn't look it.doesn't really go bad easily at all. find an old used one, clean it really well...the small vac port should be wide open unclogged....I sprayed alot of carb cleaner in mine and made sure it was all clear, popped it back on.....totally cleared up my vac issue, and also my PCV pressure buildup, though it's back I think
