does the IPD ECU take advantage of this high octane straight? or should i mix it with 93?

There seemed to be quite a jump with the blend, but not so much with straight 100. It went from 225hp with 91 to 247hp with a 100/91 50/50 blend. It only went from 247hp to 255 with straight 100. I think it would have made more hp with a wider gap an straight 100.

It is well worth the effort and cost.

Oops that was me, forgot to login.

Actually either ECU can take advantage of the better fuel. The IPD ECU can just take more of an advantage.

that's because 91oct is crap(f'in gov regulations) ... with the 50/50 mix you should of been around 95.5oct which is usually around enough to stop most inaudible knock hence the big power gain so the ECU could run without having to pull so much timing

engines only need enough oct to stop all knock/detonation/preignion or WETFYWTCI to make power... there is such thing as running to much octane on engines. i've seen it personally when i'd run 115 leaded i'd drop trap speed where as when i'd run 115/91 mix (kept it around 103oct) i'd get much higher trap speeds than with pure 115 or a 115/100 mix

a good way to go about guessing what oct your engine needs best is to figure out the effective CR va stock CR and boost pressure and you can calc around what oct gas you need to run most of these boosted street cars in the ~300hp range on a so so tune run good around the 96oct mark .. where as with real tuning you can make around the same power on pump gas if not a little more

aaannnddd you just made it even worse :P

Basically it's a thread about how poorly MTE tunes the cars and how much knock is seen on the base maps.

what's this mythical creature of which you speak called Knock?

The creature itself goes unseen... it (inaudible knock) lies deep within your engine inaudible to humans, however mr. knock sensor can detect it, and plays havoc with maps.
