update to cross post, copied verbatim:

MTE's software engineer / Volvo tuning expert Marco Alsterfalk will be here at our faculty in Portland Friday March 17 through Friday the 24th.

He will be available for custom tuning work on Saturday the 18th at our facility at 11744 NE Ainsworth Circle Portland OR 97220.

We are developing Stage kits for 1994-2000 850 and 70 sereis ( Motronic 4.3 and 4.4) consisitng of 18-T turbo upgrades and Aquamist water injection. This is in additon to exisitng upgrades for downpipes, and cat backs.

We only have time for 6 custom tunes this day and 3 are already spoken for, so as of March 8th we have 3 spots still open.

To sign up, don't post on here, contact me at scott@ipdusa.com or call me on my cel at 503-830-6433.

Marco is able to custom tune all turbo charged models 1994 to 2006. If you have a 2000 to 2004 S40 or V40, you must provide the year, model and VIN number to me no later than Wednesday the 15th so that required ECU access info can be acquired in advance. Please type the VIN # twice to confirm it as it must be 100% accurate.

Tuning during this event is $700 for all base stage 1 programs and $150 / hour for any additional custom tuning for higher level upgrades such as down pipes, turbos water injection etc. Typically custom tunes take 2 hours, so that would be $700 plus 2 X $150 for a total of $1000.

These prices are regardless if you already have a stage 1 upgrade or not. If you already have an MTE upgrade, you might try selling it in advance or picking up a spare ECU to help offset the cost ( this only an option on 1994-2000 850 and 70 series models).

As MTE's US distributor we feel strongly that MTE provides the best engineered and best performing Volvo ECU tuning in the world and based on feedback form customers that have taken advantage of these rare opportunities for custom tuning in the past, you will not be disappointed!

This is not an ipd supported event, you will be dealing directly with MTE and paying them directly by cash or money order.

I will be providing basic logistics support and scheduling, but be prepared to spend some time visiting with other like-minded Volvo owners as it's not possible to predict how long each tune will take. We will give you an estimated window / time slot.

By the way, Marco will need to drive your car to do the tuning (alone), he does not tune on a dyno as the best tuning is done in real world on the road conditions. It's simply not possible to get proper airflow / cooling on a dyno. There is a safe place for him to do high load / high speed testing nearby.

We are located at 11744 NE Ainsworth Circle Portland Oregon 97220, not far from I-205 and Airport Way and not far from the airport. There are several restaurants * Micky D's, Subway, Wendy's, Burgerville, Jacque De Cardboard, Shari's, etc. Best Buy, A Home Depot etc are within walking distance. Mall 205 and Clackamas Town Center are also within 10-15 minutes. If you want a nicer meal, try The Shilo Inn right across the street from us ain't bad. There's also Mc Mennamins Pub up near Mall 205.

There is also a Holiday Inn Express Reservations:

These places are within short walking distance (1/2 a block) for those of you that want to come down Friday.

If you want to dyno before and after, Torque Freaks is right down the street from us and they have an excellent facility and staff and many folks have used them in the past. We do a lot of our dyno testing there. They are open Saturday.

FYI-

The Softloader project is still a ways off in the future. I have no knowledge of it being able to hold multipe maps. As far as I know it wil only be able to manage a stock map and a modified map. I suppose it might be possible, but I would say it is unlikely at this time. We don't even know if it will be compatible with exising maps, so upgrading to a soft loader may not be possible if you already have a flashed upgrade. We will be discussing this project while Marco is here, but as I mentioned, it is still several months away form being launched due to the time line of the hardware development.

Anyways, that's about it for now.

C-YA there!
