slarti
My dad's 95 850 turbo with about 170K miles on it started making some strange noise that he was unable to discribe to me. He pulled over and shut off the car. We checked the oil and it was low, after adding oil we tried to start it and it just wouldn't catch.I checked all the fuses, and checked the fuel rail to for fuel, both ok.But, when I turn the key to the 2nd position, I don't hear the pumping/pressurizing sounds I have when I turn the key on my 96 850R. Could this be the cause of the problem?Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks All.
Bay13
Take off the oil fill cap and crank the engine to see if you can see the cams turning over, if you can't you have a broken Timing belt and need a head job at the min.

gronberg
When you turn the ignition on are all the lamps lighting up on the dashboard? No error codes?Try starting it in N.
slarti
I've got codes 435 and 436, but those have been there for a while. I didn't think that the O2 sensor codes would prevent it from starting. All the dash light are on.I've tried starting it in Neutral. No joy. Bay13
Compression would be nice to know if you have the correct compression. Check the wires on the positive terminal of the battery and make sure none of them are broken or very dirty.
rsmigel
Will the car start with "instant-start" sprayed into the intake past the air filter?
rsmigel
Oops, I'd pull the plugs and do a visual on them too. Do they look OK?
slarti
I don't have the tools to check compression, but I did check the plugs and they are a little dirty but not bad. I had just replaced them about 5K miles ago.I haven't tried the instant-start stuff, is that stuff ok for the MAF?I'm wondering if the lack of noise when I turn the key to the "on" position is something to be concerned about. On my 96 850R I get a bit of noise when I turn the key, sounds like a pump or motor, no such noise on the 95 850 right now, but I'm sure I've heard it on this car too.Any ideas? Guest Guest
Replace fuel pump relay 103 in the fuse box.Remove screws and the whole lid to find it.Giving it a tap may be a temporary cure.

rsmigel
Run the instant-start and let's get the "fuel" question answered. I've used it a few times on my '94 w/o damage to the MAF sensor. If it fires up, then dies, then we know your problem is fuel related.
