Veneficus
Has anyone ever thought of running a "pirate" radio station from their car? I was thinking about maybe getting a kit and assembling it so that I can have a bucn of guys listen to the same music when we ride around (in multiple cars). I would be running the unit off of an mp3 player rca dual jack (so that I can put it into my rca in and have good sound). I think I want to cover maybe a 1/2 mile radius or maybe even less. I just didn't know if anyone out there has any prior experience in this field. Just wondering. ---Brian
matt1122
Aside from being very illegal...You could try hooking the MP3 player up to one of those FM modulators and then using a signal amplifier somehow, perhaps.
AnthonyR
Just get an FM modulator hook your source into it, and on the output run it into a signal amplifier and then out to a bare wire or antenna of some sort. Pretty easy and cheap to do. You just do it kinda in reverse
BenW
Not sure if it IS illegal. Doesnt the FCC have some rule about as long as it's less than so many watts that there is no lisencing thing. I dont know. But at autocross events they run a radio station that only works in like a 2 mile radius or less.
Jozone
Ive actually been thinking about doing this for a long time... thought it would be cool to broadcast a station in the parking lot with certain songs, and have everyone crank them up... keep us updated on what you find. Veneficus
thought it would be cool to broadcast a station in the parking lot with certain songs, and have everyone crank them up...Yeah! Thats what I was thinking about doing! I'll make sure to keep this updated. Right now I'm searching around looking for a unit that has connections for a car so I don't have to mess around with converting power... The only problem is finding a unit that has some decent range. --- Brian
