Why so big? 2 3/4 will flow enough air for over 1000hp
trance42
Im trying to go with something near the size of the vms throttle body.
BlackT5
The $250 vms throttle body? Why not just use the one from an N/A 850. You can get them for $20.What other mods do you have?

PullMyFinger
Does your compressor have a ginormous outlet? I'm thinking not. Stock Mitsus are 2 inch. Why slow the velocity down so much with larger pipe? Not to mention it will be harder to route to the throttle body. Depending on which intercooler routing you have/going for. If its the reverse style then its real tight down below there. Also, what intercooler do you have? Most have 2.5" top inlet and 2" lower outlet. But generally, I would think the thinner the better as long as its structurally strong enough to T-bolt clamp. Thinner pipe will dissipate heat quicker. Which you'll want since your air will be going slower. What else have you done to warrant the larger throttle body? Your sig is a little vague. trance42
I am not familure with the measurment but 83 thousandths of a inch = 8.3 hundredths of an inch. seems like paper thinIm planning to do a front mount.I have a garett 30/35r. The outlet is a little bigger than stock. not much.Would a 2.5 inch pipe be better than a 2.75 for my app? Also is there enough airflow through the front spoiler of a T5 to keep the intercooler cool Tim

BlackT5
What compressor housing on the turbo? E or S cover? S cover has 2.5" outlet and I believe E cover has 2" outlet?
PullMyFinger
0.083" is about 2.1mm83 thousandths or 8.3 hundredths or a little less than 1 tenth of an inch. All of which is more than enough wall thickness for aluminum intercooler tube. For that setup I'd go with 2.5" I think. We still don't know what intercooler you have and what the inlet/outlet sizes are. Keep in mind that the throttle body has a plate inside of it blocking part of the flow. So the pipe does not need to match the bore size exactly. Slightly less will help keep velocity up.
trance42
Has anyone ever bought ICs from johnnyracecar.com? The prices are good and you can get them in black which is what i want. I guess i have the e cover because its definatly not 2.5. i just thought it was a little harder to get the hose back on when i changed turbos. Does anyone have any imput on the amount of airflow through a stock front spoiler beeing able to keep the intercooler cool enough to do its job?i know this is off topic but my differential is busted. quaife is about to make more LSDs but im sure that will be a a while from now and i need a stock differential in the mean time. anyone know where to get one for a good price?
