8G5L0T
I called EuroImage (mechanic) today and they said i ahve a blown header. The blown header was a result of my coolant hoose blowing up just to let you guys know. Here is the thing, 2 days before before my header blew i had EuroImage check all my hoses to make sure there was no cracks or anything of that shape or form EuroImage said i was fine and i didnt need to worry about new hooses until 100,000 miles. Know because they didnt check thourouhly i have to pay $1900. I realize there might have been no hole when they checked but then there could have been one and they didnt check it. This is turning out to be a hassle. Do you guys think i should take this up with them and see if i can get some money back?

MikeH
sorry to hear about your car. I doubt the shop is going to take any responibility. You asked them to check for cracks and that and they did.Hoses deteriate from the inside out. The squeezing test is really hard to tell since thehoses are somewhat soft when they are new. Last year i had spare hose to replace altho the other looked fine still.I was going to change it the following weekend. But mid-week the hose blew out.Luckily for me it blew after the car was turned off.

jross
Blown HG shouldn't be a $2k repair unless you warped the head and are having the head and block resurfaced.
MikeH
what happened after the hose blew? Were you on the highway? How long did you drive it before you noticed it overheating?Did the car die out on you? Did you get it towed?Did the shop pull the head?
8G5L0T
Lets see it happened going up to the races. A house blew i let the car sit for 2 hours. I called my dad up and he said to drive it home not knowing how serious it was. Would have saved some money considering we have triple A. I drove the car about 20-35 miles home (iam not really sure how far of a drive it was). From what i understood on the phone is that they have to take my engine apart, see if the header gasket can be redone if so they are going to send it to a shop to have it redone.i didnt talk to the person on the phone all that long. All i can take away from this is a good learning experience and listen to my instincts and not my dad's. O well at least i get somewhat of a port and polish. TheMan5952
yea, anytime your engine has no coolant in it, don't drive it. Just get it towed. Towing bill vs. Possible head/engine replacment. hmmm...tough one there.
