S60 T5 Vs Tl? Which One To Buy?

Hi everybody, I'm new to the forum and I'm on the market. I want to thank everybody for your help and advice. I've been looking at Saab 93 aero (didn't like the handling), 330/325i (didn't think they were all that great and the inside felt cheap), acura TL (I like the interior but the car wasn't too thrilling to drive), and s60 T5 (I love the interior, haven't driven it yet). Basically, I narrowed my list to s60 T5 and acura TL.

I'm in between an Acura TL and an s60 T5, both new. Which one would you advice and why. In other words, what are the advantages of the T5 against the TL.

Another question, is the T5 as reliable as the TL? I'm not very familiar with the volvo maintenance so any help is appreciated.

Finally, what's the difference bw the s40 t5 and the s60 t5? Which one's quicker?

Thanks again guys!

In the long run the TL might be cheaper then the T5 in terms of maintanence... However, if you take good care of the car. Then I would say the differnce would be nominal in the long run. Take the T5 out for a spin, and you will probably be suprised. If you really wanna have some thrills, take a look at the R. It'll toss you around nice and good, and the fastest member of the Volvo line up. However, the T5 is still an Excellent car. Also... the styling on the TL has never really done it for me.. IMO.

the S60 T5 w/ nebula rims, sport body kit and spaceball shifter is ridiculously hot

chip that sucker and you'll be flying

man... that front lip is horrible... I would just put on an S60R front bumper cover before doing that... but the Nebs are hot... FO' sho'...

how can everyone say the T-5 is faster than a new TL? I used to drive my friends 6spd and it was a helluva lot quicker than any T5 I've ever driven. Biggest drawback is the suspension tho...it is horrible. If you want to corner, be safe, and pay more attention to maintanence buy the volvo...if you want cheap reliable fast buy the TL.

Personally Im pro Honda on this one-

Honda is cheaper to maintain...

Beautiful Stanley Bi-xenons on the...

Elegant interior...

Good looking Body design..

Fast...

Cheaper Performance parts...

More room inside for passengers...

T5 is faster, tons more torque, and much more potential and more available mods for it than the s60R... Plus, if you're in an accident, you're going to survive in the volvo, that can't be said about the acura. Volvo for the win.

Have you ever felt like you cheated on your volvo by driving some other make?? I drove pontiac, ford, etc etc, and I felt like I cheated on my car!

I recently went through the same delima.... I wanted a nice / dependable daily driver.....and had the similar cars on my list as you do. My top 3 were 1. Volvo S60R 2.Audi S4 or 3. Acura TL.

What made me walk away from the volvo is its terrible depreciation..... The car even depreciates when it is sitting in the showroom of the dealer as a brand new car..... then you can take another $5K off as you drive the car off the lot. I've also read bunch of complaints from the owners.....They had issues with the interior (I think it is out dated based on what else is on the market today), quality and lack of knowlegde from the dealerships (quite common for Volvo but not as bad as GM)..... All of that plus the fact that S60 is will be redesigned next year made me walk away from Volvo......

S4.....is irrelevant (which was my finalist)

Acura TL..... I have at least 5 friends who own them and they all love it..... You can buy a new one for $32K put 25K miles on it and still can sell it for $29K. It is very dependable, its technology is great and I personnaly think TL is the best bang for the buck..... The only downside of it for me is that they are EVERYWHERE! I like driving cars that you don't see everyday (like my yellow 850)..... If you do like the TL, you might also want to take a look at the new Lexus IS 250 or 350! Lexus did an excellent job with the new IS. After sitting in the IS 350 and driving it and studying all of it gadgets..... I decided to hold off on my new car purchase..... Lexus makes Volvo's technology look like it is a 50 year old technology and it makes Acura look simple. So I'd say go w/ Acura TL but at least go take a look at the new IS!

One of my fears is getting the T5 and it not being too fast (I can't afford the R, too expensive after add ons). Not that I race, but I don't want to be humiliated against some other cars.

I really like the interior of the s60, and I like the fact that it has mods that can be done to increase power. Do these mods hurt/damage the engine. Which ones would you recommend?

Thanks again!!!
