S60 T5 Vs Tl? Which One To Buy?

One of my fears is getting the T5 and it not being too fast (I can't afford the R, too expensive after add ons). Not that I race, but I don't want to be humiliated against some other cars.

I really like the interior of the s60, and I like the fact that it has mods that can be done to increase power. Do these mods hurt/damage the engine. Which ones would you recommend?

Thanks again!!!

If you are buying new, the 06 S60r has an incentive program coming out on Apr 3rd. I don't have alot of details but I think it's like 5k off. Also if you can find a 05 , I have seen them in the 36k range. Volvo is not mod friendly and if they find out you have had the ECU reprogrammed they may void the warranty.

Awesome info!!!! I will be on the look for that. I know they are having free premium package upgrade but that is only until this monday. I don't think I'll have time to get a new car before then. But if there's another incentive starting on April....i will rush it....that sounds pretty good!!!

Thanks again

If the offer for the s60 R is true, then I'm definitely going for it!!!

I guess to sum up then, what types of problems should I expect with a Volvo?

What price I should aim for both S60 T5 and R?

Thanks again!!!

depends on what options you want on the S60R:

But for : w/ 18" Pegs, Prem Pac, Atacalma int & manual tranmission..... you should aim for a little higher than $35K....if you want park sensors, nav and all of that stuff.... you will be looking at $40K range.....(this ofcourse doesn't include the insentives and all the other stuff)

I highly recomend buying a used 2005..... I recently found a 2004 w/ 15K miles for $27 w/ Nav!

All I know is the older TL transmission get replace at like 30K on regular period. My Acura tech replaces them on weekly basis under warranty from normal usuage.

Tried that for reliability from Honda. I think TL is best bang for the buck but if you want some thing stand out and be unique. Hands down the S60.

Try to look for a 2005 S60r(stay away from the sports body kit). If you are really planning on keeping it for awhile I would buy the extended warranty for the peace of mind. I have the 04 and I'm planning on keeping it for a while so I am saving up for the 100k Volvo care warranty. I have been told that Haldex system maybe be an issue down the road. But I guess with any car you get will have something going wrong.

Well to my great surprise the s60 t5's 0-60 is 6.5 and the tl is 6.0, but thats only from 0-60 and 0.5 sec is a blink of an eye, ull eat him on the highway ne day and u cant mess with a turbo

a light mod on the t5 would take care of the tl anywhere

This is why USED RULES... You don't want to be humiliated against some other cars? For the same $, I can land you a 2001 BMW M5 with 400hp, low miles, and incredible sex appeal. Rare, instantly turns heads, and BLAZING speed. Is it brand new? Nope, so you can avoid the initial depreciation.

Volvo is wonderful for Safety, but you want Speed and Bling. Skip the S60, if those are your priorities.

Driven.

s60 t5 is more a family car where The driver has an inner child and likes to kick it when hes alone on the highway...definitly if u wanna blow EVERYONE away u can go 4 an M5 typre car, but if u want new, safe, reliable, quick, different, go 4 the s60

i have an almost stock 99 s70 t5 which runs about the same as the s60 t5 and i have no problem with ne one on the road so u shouldnt either

You put it out there --> new, safe, reliable, quick, different!!!! That's what I'm going for. If I can take most of the cars on the highway then awesome. Let's face it 0-60 is cool but you don't use it that much unless you are on the track.

If the car is quick, awesome. I don't have kids, but I'm planning on keeping my car for a while, so you never know. I do need a family sized car, that doesn't look very "family" and that's fun to drive.

I guess the key is FUN to drive, that's why I was asking about the s40 t5 too.

One thing I want to ask, is how is handling (for cornering) when compared to BMW 3 and TL

M5 is a monster but I don't think I can put with the maintenance if something goes wrong.

I really appreciate all your input, please keep it coming.
