S60 T5 Vs Tl? Which One To Buy?

You put it out there --> new, safe, reliable, quick, different!!!! That's what I'm going for. If I can take most of the cars on the highway then awesome. Let's face it 0-60 is cool but you don't use it that much unless you are on the track.

If the car is quick, awesome. I don't have kids, but I'm planning on keeping my car for a while, so you never know. I do need a family sized car, that doesn't look very "family" and that's fun to drive.

I guess the key is FUN to drive, that's why I was asking about the s40 t5 too.

One thing I want to ask, is how is handling (for cornering) when compared to BMW 3 and TL

M5 is a monster but I don't think I can put with the maintenance if something goes wrong.

I really appreciate all your input, please keep it coming.

the s40 t5 has 218 hp turbo and is pretty light, its a very good car i have a friend of mine who has one. Get the fully loaded s40 t5 with xenon lights and the whole shebang...ull be very happy with it, it runs about The same as the s60 t5 but is lighter and is better on curves...if ur single without a family and dont need alot of room, i would go for the s40, because it saves u money and it handles abit better considering its size and is very quick ( and can get much quicker with some minor mods)

i dont know 1st hand about the prcise difference of handling between the 3 and TL, but BMW is renound for its great handling so it might give u some added hug around the curve but nothing that should make u change ur mind about the volvo, the Tl is a little bigger, acura make good cars, handling should be ok aswell.

since i am a volvo fan im pushing you towards the s40 because it is cheaper than the s60, and since ur in no need of extra space it would be a good fit 4 u and it is a very good looking car, and as another poster mentioned the s60 will be restyled next year, maybe it wouldnt be the greatest idea to buy this year model, or u can wait next till The fall and get the 06 model 4 much less...i would also consider a used s60 R if i were you, its really a cut above the rest, handling might be alittle stiffer tho...i hope this helped u

I was really looking at the 2001 M5 before I got my s60R. I'm the guy who had the volvo fire etc. if you guys remember so I got some help from Volvo to buy the R. Anyway after doing the research on the M5 the maintence is not that bad for a car that Bad A$$. I drove both the M5 and the e55 benz and I must say for pure enjoyment I loved the e55 and they have dropped like a rock. Used 2001 with 40-60k in the high 20's. If you want brut force and love to drive that way than the M5 is the way to go. Just buy a warranty.

I'm not sure if you drive in traffic but the s60r seats are the best in the business and the stereo kicks A$$ as well.

LEXUS IS350. RWD 6 speed tiptronic and a bit over 300 HP. Has lots of great technology in it- you should read up on it. But it is Japanese, which means that every single piece of electronics on that car is Japanese! They know what they are doing when it comes to that stuff. It will out-perform and out-everything all the cars listed here so far. And you get it base/loaded for 35k. The Subaru Legacy GT is a good choice too. I don't mean to betray the Volvo community, but you all know Lexus is the #1 ranked car, and Volvo is not close. Sorry guys.

ur right that IS350 is a great car, so is the subaru, but theres no place for ricers here! jkjk ya the lexus is worth checking out, very fast car, lexus has set the standard for base-line performance, and now everyone will follow...make sure its the 350 not The 250, cuz looking at the 250 id rather go with a european

I looked at the IS350. Really fast, but one problem....it's auto. I only want to buy a manual car. As for the IS250, that car is slow.

I look at the legacy 2.5gt b spec. I never drove it. It looks fast, but you can only get the interior on red and I don't think I want that!

Like I said above, I am looking for something fun and thrilling to drive. A car that I look everyday and I say, that's a hot car. It also has to be fast, but not ferrari fast! As long as it's quick enough I'm good!

What's the difference in acceleration between the s6RR and T5?

Wait...how is an M5 unsafe  :blinks:?

M5 has the same crash rating as the S60. Actually better than the S60 in side impact, as the M5 has side airbags at all 4 passenger locations. M5 also weighs considerably more than the S60.

0-60 in 4.5 seconds... Take the wife and 3 kids with you while you shame Vettes, Stangs, and WRX all day long.

Driven.

You can get the new IS350 in manual..... It just won't have the AWD option!
