OPINION BELOW::::::

There is a balance that needs to be struck. If everyone posted prices in the forum that really weren't deals, then no-one would look or care about it! It's in the best interest of other sellers and buyers if a seller is called on a high price, so that the deal quality is maintained in the forum and it continues to attract highest interest. Now, if someone is just trying to knock a decent price down for their own good, that's a different story. So a balanced policy may be: If you post and critique the price of an item, then you can't buy it, no matter how low it goes! I, as a buyer and seller, appreciate the feedback when prices are too high.

i agree that you shouldn't post lower pirces in THAT THREAD. If you want to let someone in on the cheap price, PM them but don't spoil that persons entire chance of selling their item. Instead of saying within the thread "I can get that for $XxX cheaper here", PM the person and let them know in private.

There is a PM function that does not publicly humiliate the seller. A PM to the seller first, then a PM to the buyer if the seller is intentionally ripping off people (usually they are just too optimistic or un-informed as to the market's state).

well. how about somebody is ripping off a person? and some newby thinks thats a great price and gets it .for example, somebody will put on sale a s60R manifold for $430, and will say that dealership price is like 600 bucks. so a newb will think thats a great price, but the rest of us know that s60R manifold cost 390 or something like that.

So I don't see anything wrong about giving IMHO about the product. is it prohibited?

Once a for sale thread is started it should be locked so the flaming can't even start ;)

The PM feature is a good thing. USE IT!

how about bumps? how often can a seller do bumps for a sale?

please Grant! -1 for your idea

no, if people think they can sell their garbage to a group of enthusiasts at rediculous prices then expect comments...

people have different views on what "fair/good/excellent" condition is & entails...

people where complaining about the cost of my R when i bought it when the seller posted however i did not and he got his asking price, fair and square

you should be able to JUSTIFY your cost for an item ;) if you can't clearly there is something wrong

I have a few opinions about this:

If the item in question is a brand new part then I think you should be able to say whatever you want about the price, as long as what you say is credible and you can back up your claim. If that same exact part can be had somewhere else for a considerable amount less, then I think bringing it up not only helps the seller establish a realistic price so that he can actually sell his item quickly, but it also helps other members. Isn't that what Volvospeed is all about? Members helping other members spend their hard earned money wisely?

If the item is used then the issue becomes somewhat subjective. But there is a "fair" market price that's generally been established for most common parts that are sold often on VS and on eBay. I think for the most part however that people should restrain themselves from too much comment about the price in this case, unless the price is so outrageously out of line, then I think it should be okay to comment.

"Make Offers" - Please, establish a price and decide to live with it. If you want offers then sell your stuff on eBay. What a waste of time.

Personally, I don't think there's been a real problem here with the FS forum and I don't see the need to get all up in arms about it. The problems occur when the people who comment have absolutely no intention at all in buying the item (and we generally know who these people are), or they simply complain because they want something for nothing. But if we're going to get all staunch and regimented about it then maybe the FS forum should just be closed permanently and all sales can just go to eBay.

yeah but ebay sucks because then you get douche bags who out bid you on a set of BBS RK wheels by 5 dollars because they used a bid sniper and it turns out they are even more moronic and the wheels don't fit their SAAB after all then you go to buy them from the guy and all the sudden their email is not working and now BBS doesn't make RK's for volvo's anymore

oh wait.......

I think if it's a private party selling one off stuff, used parts etc; most of the time we should just let it ride.

If it is presented to the over all group (as a group buy) then we should have the right to voice our conserns on priceing and quality.

BINGO!

I've notice that a lot of the first time visitors start by posting in the For Sale section. Basically lets keep the negativity to a minimum and lets not drive way potential new members. OK?

I have made the mistake of posting about a price before, but haven't done it since. I think the best solution is just to PM the person your offer if you're interested. If you're not interested, and just want to bother a person about it, then keep your fingers to yourself.
