crc1185
I posted a while back with a number of strange problems. Since then, I have replaced the thermostat and engine coolant temperature sensor. That fixed the low running temperature... car heats up to normal operating temperature now. I am still having other problems though.Sometimes I start my car and it idles really high (like 3,000 rpm). I then let it rest and sometimes it works fine, sometimes it does it again. Today it did this, then when I started it again, it idled really really low (400 rpms). It kept running, didn't stall. I drove it like this for probably fifteen minutes, then it started to idle like normal again. These problems keep happening, but not regularly, just every once in a while. There is no CEL.Someone suggested the idle air valve or something before. Anyone know where this is and how I could take it apart to check it out? Any other ideas? Thanks, Chase

Guest AlvinL
Try cleaning the IAC with throttle body cleaner until the valve rotates back and forth smoothly. It's probably all gummed up.
