Radiator been broken for a while after an accident and she kept driving it, overheated it a couple of times. Finally got the radiator fixed and it seems that there is a lot of pressure in the cooling system. On top of that the oil on the dipstick looks like mud. No smoke off the back. It was like the coolant was boiling and stuff. I was abit conserned. I kept taking the cap off to relieve it (car somewhat cooled down before taking cap off - letting out alot of air) It went away after a week or so. In the old days, flushing the cooling system, especially with the chemical flush, the radiator and freeze plug sometimes leaked due to unclogging the the rust that was sealing the leaks. I wonder that was the case for you, Mike? And after a while, the head gasket leak got sealed up again. The engine shouldn't have "excess" air. That just means you were low on coolant, giving you more air space, which you would have noticed as you would have needed to refill the radiator right away.
