In An Effort To Improve Vs

As a mod on TB, I'll take whatever the hell people wanna dish out at me, it's happened a few times before. I'm not gonna pussyfoot around it because I can easily delete someones post.

I'd also like to hear the other side of the story regarding Doug. I've heard of his posts getting edited or deleted for absolutely no reason. What's that about?

That's fine for thos of us who've been here since the coup'. But lets say that a Saturday mechanic makes a post that Greg doesn't like, and he gets a what I like to call "Greg house of Double Barrel Justice". We may never hear from him again. Shot, on a good day, he may end up leaving VS and hanging himself in his garage.

i see what you're saying, but we all know that Kevin is the first one to post in every thread, and he's generally pretty nice.

People just need to stop being rude. That would help members stay. If you dont have something helpful to say when someone has a question then dont bother to post. I know most of the things have been posted about 1000 times but the search feature does suck and everyone knows it. Dont be rude to new members when they ask something about their car. We were all there at one point. I still am so Im not out of the noobness yet but Im learning.

The whole green yellow orange red alert thing doesnt really help. If you posted for the first time and got that...you probubly wouldnt come back. Just my .02

Sorry if someone else already said all this. I dont have time to read all the way through right now.

So it's cool for them to be dictators when people give them constructive, or just flat out true criticism? I remember seeing a post by Andy [mayday] magically dissapear after a short period of time, more than likly because he called out Kevin after he told someone they were spending too much money.

Part of my reason for doing this, and I mentioned this to Kevin, was because Admins/Mods are often setting a bad example by slamming on people. Your job is not to tell me to "suck it." ......., especially if their first time here is with a question to keep a Saturday project from turning to disaster. Again, I stress that they don't have to spam up other forums, they can ask questions in topics with issues similar to theirs. I HIGHLY doubt the weekend mechanic will have a question that hasn't been covered here in some way, shape or form.

Dude you're right on, why aren't you a mod  ? there should be more mods like that jesse guy, then again is the internet. I only come here to gather good info on The performance thread, and will most likely will stop coming as often for a while "busy with something called life"

Shut my car is running hard as heck and to some extent this website made me get one, I honestly didn't need one, but once I started thinkin of how much I wanted one when they first came out then I knew I was back in love....Good Job and Kudos to the guy who invented / founded this site! only god knows the shyt he has to put up with....but others out there are simply BLAH! BLAH BLAH!

eh, they hand out oscars to some background nobodies too, so Greg can have one also.

See!!!! We're all starting to share better already.

I do have another sugesstion. If you post a question in a repair forum, when some one answers, don't then immediately tell them they're wrong.

Example "What's the wheel bolt torque for a 95 850?"

"I think it's 78 ftlbs"

"NO!!!! It's 82. You're an idiot"

I say when someone does this, we should all chip in to fly Greg to their house, and have him kick them in the groin.

thanks for the input!

Read the first two pages. No one has even commented about those inputs. This thread has totally taken off and avoided answering the problem: "How do we better organize our knowledge in order to make it as easy to access for outsiders and even us as possible" Answering that will reduce noobie threads and all this other bs we are floundering around about in here.

I'm not even going to start about the comment about the condescending comment about people needing to change and that we should wait or just let them. Ok, so maybe I'll start.... Maybe we should all just be more accepting of each other here and not try to pick on the people who don't know as much. It's ok to have fun but there is a limit - we don't all know each other personally on here. Sarcasm and unrelated comments don't go far if the person they are directed to has no context.

All I'm here for is to learn and help people learn and be with people who share a passion about Volvos and help them share his/her passion here.

I honestly think that one of the larger issues on the boards is an extremely extensive moderating staff which can cause problems. Especially since apparently Chuck doesn't have the ability to monitor who does what. I don't feel like hashing over everything that has been debated about in the past.

Personally I think it the top tier mods should be the only mods, and they are on often enough to make do without the rest.

My 2c...

I have the abality to know I am about to go edit your profile is some witty yet rude way

I really do not care about noob posts, or if people search. The 2 cents the page view makes me in banners more than covers my bandwidth cost. So if you guys want to talk about wheel off-set and octane, knock yourself out. IF you are too lazy to search and are willing to wait for someone to answer you when you can answer for yourself, more problem to you lazy ass. Much to do about nothing.
