He suggested giving members the ability to lock their own topics. You suggested I go perform on myself.I think it's funny that 2 people "leave" and the site is screwed. Did I say that? Did I... I would LOVE to know where.The last three months were our highest new membership months ever. 1,363 members in '06 alone. yup, sites goin downhill. Still don't remember where I said that.Keep in mind most of these suggestions have been to make the site easier to use, especially for new members. It's not like people will stop coming to the site if we make them read through a bit before just askign a question: you'll still get the page views, they'll just be in a spot where the topic has already been discussed. But now we want to encourage 80% less posts? Now go with me here. Why would I want 80% less topics and page views keeping in mind I pay the 500 dollar a month server bill with page views?there you go, my point exactly...you have to pay for the server, and members only/supporting members help you do that, and more exposure does also. leave the site alone. The maintenance forums are a huge part of the VS community and it wouldn't be fair to new members that have an issue with their car if they have to post 10 stupid posts just to able to start a thread. I don't really care about off topic sections, sure if you can't handle the kind of reality that needs to be dished out, then silence me.So if volvo related talk is going on in members only or the R forum then the whole board suffers. It becomes a scientology model, not a open forum for sharing ideas.New users might be good for chuck, but for those of us who are buying our own volvos not getting the rents to buy them for us are suffering. As far as I'm concerned i'd trade 600 new n00bs for 1 doug. Losing that source of info was not worth all the clutter that this place has recruited.this place sucks a little bit more every time i visit!
