tequilasgrrl
I'm getting 4 new door speakers and 2 new 2in dash speakers and I want to get rid of the current speaker covers and do something nicer looking. I was thinking of using the stock covers to mold new ones that go inward flush to the inset speaker (leaving it visible) except I'm sure this opens them up to get dirty or damaged easily. What kind of materials could I use to do this and has anyone done anything like this or had luck with something else? Sorry, its hard to explain what exactly I have in mind... pimpinavolvo
most ppl here like the stock covers because they match your interior and conceal your speakers. now that sounds like a stupid idea right- concealing your brand new, awesome speakers? it'll sound stupid till somebody sees them and decides they want them. then you're up the creek. my advice is leave the stock ones and protect your investment! Veneficus
I have to agree with that statement. It is nice to have your priceless speakers under stock wraps... I just painted mine black to give a nice 2 tone effect. ---Brian
AnthonyR
You could mold it in, I molded the tweeter holders into the existing grill when I was using factory locations. You might even be able to implement the aftermarket grill that comes with your speakers into it. You could leave it open, with no grill over the speaker itself, dust water and dirt won't really do anything to a speaker, only risk you would run is accidentially puncturing it or something.Oh, and for the factory look, I went away from that look a LONG time ago. The 3way components in kick pods kinda give it away :P

tequilasgrrl
Thanks guys for the advice... Although out in the sticks i really dont have to worry about people stealing stuff (also considering i won't be getting anything too too valuable lol) I do agree that its better not to tempt thieves. I was looking into getting those wider "mesh" grilles- the kind that look like fog light covers on big trucks lol, but i havent decided if they would look tacky- you'd be able to see the speakers, and it would definitely be a more aggressive look than stock. As for the kickpods, they are awesome but not really something i should do, my legs are too freaking long and are splayed all over when i'm not abusing the clutch lol... I might play around with this idea to see how it looks... I just have to find some mesh somewhere. How big of mesh were you thinking?
AnthonyR
With speakers down there, what do you do with your feet?I usually just bend my leg, that or just rest my foot on top of the kicks. Also, my foot fits between the kick and the brake pedal. You get used to the lack of foot space very quickly.
JehovArob
Rest your foot on top, eh? Then it'd be like a foot massage :-)
