Need To Change The Lower Turbo Vacuum Line

Recommended Posts

So I've changed all of the vacuum line hoses except for the lower turbo one.

I know it's a PITA so I haven't bothered doing it. I really can't see where the connection is from the top at all. Is this a "you have to do it from the bottom" deal?

Does anyone have any pictures, a write-up....suggestions?

Any or all of the above would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to get this done as soon as possible.

I'm afraid, like the top one (which I replaced last week...and it increased boost!!!) this hose is about wasted at the connection but I can't even see it to check.

Do a search in this forum on Oil Cooler Lines.

I am in the midst of trying to change mine too, but trust me, it is so hard to access anything.

There is a clip that is mouted to the engine block (which you cannot get any tool straight on). Then there is also the connection, which is only seen after removing the flap from the wheel well. Then you cannot access the torx bolt you are supposed to, in order to loosen the retainer clip.

If anyone does have information on how to do this, I would also like to know, as I already purchased the line ($140 CDN), and do not wish to pay another hours labour to have the dealership install it.

HELP!

(think I may be talking about the wrong lines, if so, sorry)

Yes, you are talking of another line.

I'm talking about the vacuum line that goes up to a 3 vac line connector near the air filter box.

I know the one which you speak of...I don't think I would tackle it myself, but that's just me.

changed mine from up above...i already had teh airbox pipe and PCV hoses disconnected, and it was easy to reach....just felt around, grabbed the old one with needle noses, and then slipped the new one on, zip tied, and done.

if you're not removing the airbox pipe, then it's easily seen from under teh car.

Thanks guys....I have all of my hoses on from the top and not about to take them loose again, so I guess I'll be tackling this from below. It's either take the hoses off and the airbox to tubo pipe or the IPD skidplate....guess the skidplate's going to come off....will wait until a bit warmer....really turned cold after the storms came though last night.
