Factory Smoked Windows On S60

Some countries in Europe do not allow the regular film tinting that we do here in the States. The cars are to come with smoked, or tinted, windows from factory, or none at all...at least in Portugal, the fines are heavy. The main reason is because it makes it difficult for Police to see inside the vehicle, and in emergency rescue situations it can become more of a pain, again, from lack of visibility into the vehicle.

So, here's the question....

1. Is it possible to get factory smoked windows on an S60 here in the States?

2. Did it come as an option on these cars?

3. Is it possible to purchase just the glass to install on another car?

I ask for S60 as this is for a friend with an S60.

Thanks for your help, guys (and of course...girls!)

:)

deffinatley cheaper to get it done after its off the lot.

and, I don't think you can get it stock... per-say. But dealers will prolly do it for a price, so that you can say it came stock.

please...can someone check \/@D!5 for a number or something??

I know recently Volvo has started equipping the new XCs with greenish tinted glass in the rear, although this doesn't really help for an S60.

Well, the XC70 rear windows might be the same, but i know the back window is not, and neither are the little half-windows behind the rear windows.

Vida does not list any tinted windows for the S60.......only laminated and water repellent.

XC70 does have a tint option available for the rear windows and tailgate though.....

It's a thin film between the 2 pieces of glass that keeps the glass from shattering on impact.

you can see the film if the car is equipped with it, and you roll the window down...

it doesn"t effect the tint of the window.
