you thought you would just sneak under the radar Mr.Rolex

Your name doesn’t look familiar but I’m assuming you are referring my past history here with volvospeed?

If so, yes I am back. I really do now own a 2001 S60 T5. (promise I will post pics in the next couple of days).

But this one ATF issue is bugging me.. $410.00 for a freakin transmission flush?? WTF did I get myself into?

:o :o

no, yellow=new

Yellow ETM = CRAP...... I have a "new" yellow stickered ETM and it still gives me the same bull@#$@ as the original except the dealer is less likely to replace this one unless it just flat out dies. My "Yellow" ETM has not gone all the way bad yet (just surging slightly), but soon will like all the other crappy ETM's. Like Vexed Volvo says, they just need to redesign and replace free of charge for all qualified Volvos.

Volvo, Please put an end to the dang ETM problems once and for all!!

Great. I hope this will work because the dealer guy warned me to flush the transmssion anywahere else besides at the dealer is like palying russian roulette. He says replacing the tranny on my car is $4,200.00.

Are you guys 100% positive that the mobil 3309 ATF is a good substitute?

Thanks,

Rolex for the tenth time the Mobil 3309 is not ony the substitute but it is the exact oil used by Volvo. It's rebadged and packaged for Volvo at Mobil. Mobil distributors ship this 3309 in 55 barrel drums to dealerships. And they repackage with Volvo Bottling. I posted a thread which I won't look up for you on the subject as did others. I just dumped my 44K old trans oil out and used 9 quarts of the new stuff. It says right on the Mobil bottle it's approved for Toyota and Volvo. And the Toyota trans oil is Mobil 3309 also...

It's for Aisin Warner transmissions and that's what Toyota and Volvo have used for the most part recently.

Also the Ttech machine is probably used at the dealer or the oil change place and they are the same. One just displaces the oil new for used. Why don't you just drain and fill three times. That gets about 85% of the old out, maybe more. You can do it yourself like an oil change. Drain plug on trans is pretty obvious.

Can I please have someone legite or reputable or a Mod confirm this. I mean the guy replied as a guest. I don't even know who he is.

Remember guys that my car's trans an auto with geartronics (don't know if that makes a difference or not).

Thanks,

Thanks,

I searched his posts, he is a guest, but from reading all 6 of his posts, they seem very put together, and they all pertain to this subject.

FWIW, if I had an auto, I would be using the Mobil 3309

Rolex you are a doubting Thomas, I mean so what If a guest is on here. The reply is no more legit. But at least you forced me to officially sign in. Do a search on the subject you will see I am not the only one using Mobil 3309. I just posted to give others the place and phone number to call Vesco Oil in the Detroit area so as not to be ripped off by the dealer (stealer).

Your questions all could be answered and have been on prior posts. Do a search and find out if the questions had been asked first.

If your concerned about the "proper" engine oil then that's another subject as engine oil is a little argumentative. I feel a true synthetic like Mobil 1 5/30 or German Castrol Syntec 0/30 should be used. I use GC Syntec for your information. Runs fairly well on it. Only available at Autozone and the bottles have to read "made in Germany"...

Rolex you are a doubting Thomas

Thanks for all the suggestions. I stopped by my local independent volvo repair shop after work and inquired about a trans flush and the guy said he can do it for $150.00 but only 1 liter (oringinal volvo synthetic atf). He says he can only drain half of whats in there so he will re-fill what he drained. He says this should be sufficient enough. He's done many trans flush on those cars therefore he seems trustworthy. He also said he's heard of the mobil 3309 but never have used it. He's a little skeptical as well. Anyways, I think I might take this route. Thanks again.

I have the contact info for those in SoCal who wants to buy mobil 3309 ATF:

General Petroleum

You know there is a full warranty on most all cars wilth ETM's I think now its 10 years or 200,000 miles from the original in service date of the car. There is also a new software that has just come out #155 but your car has to qualify by VIN range. I have herd good reviews from customers with ETM problems. Hope this helps some :)
