mikie
So as most of you know I bought Kevin's Volutions with Toyo T1-S 225/35/18. I mounted the wheels and I am hearing like a howling noise when going very low speeds, below 40km. I have a feeling that it could be my wheel bearings if possible. I have almost 165 000km and have never replaced them. I'm figuring the extra weight which have been added is obviously adding more load to the bearings, especially at lower speeds. Once momentum is built up (higher speeds) the noise does not seem to be present. Any inputs would be much appreciated, thanks.
the underlørd
mikie, lift the front end of the car up, spin the wheels, and grab the springs, if you can feel a vibration in the springs, you need new hub bearings.

I know remember you mentioned this not so long ago. Thanks
cRRRRazy
normally the wheel bearing sound is more pronounced with speed, and is most apparent above 40+mph. if you say the noise decreased with speed then i would be less inclined to say it is a wheel bearing. wheel balance maybe?alignment? I had an alignment about 2 months ago and everything was fine. I have not yet went above 50mph since installed the wheels. but around 20-40 mph is where I hear the sound. I lifted the car today and spun the left wheel (which is were I have a bend in the bearing) I heard slight clicking as the wheels was turning around and very minimal vibration in the spring - I did not think anything of the vibrations at first cause it was so minimal, however. I checked the right wheel and no clicking noise was present and I felt absolutly nothing coming from the spring. Before with my winter tires and steelies I thought I was hearing something as well, but just thought it was noisy winter tires. The sound is more pronounced with the heicos assuming because the weight is almost doubled. So I am assuming to change the bearing (should I do both?) And get my wheels balanced. Any other pointers/sugestions?Thanks guys.
cRRRRazy
just change the one that is bad and you'll be fine, just get the hub kit that comes with the bolts and not just the hub, its a couple bucks more (you could always use the same bolts with locktight but...........)
