I'm confused, I still only count 11 speakers in the C70 system, where are the other 3?

What do you guys think about THESE SUBS for the rear? I was thinking two of these suckers would just bolt right in and I can just leave out the tweeters that are supposed to be there or maybe get new tweeters. Just wire it to the stock amp.

Good?

The fluctuation in the number of reported speakers for the C70's premium audio system may be related to the available dealer-option dual subwoofers for the C70 convertible. What with all the problems of burnt out crossover circuits and smoking window switches, I wonder if your car has flood damage? Just a thought. I LOVE my C70's surround system, and the only thing I'm going to do to modify it is replace the stock 4-channel amp with an Alpine V12 5-channel amp, and use the 5th channel to drive a single 12" sub mounted below the hat shelf. I'm trying to stick as close to OEM as possible, so I'm using the Alpine amp because that's who made Volvo's amp originally, and the sub is a Dynaudio just like the other speakers. The amount of research that went into designing the first Dolby Surround system in a production car was PHENOMENAL... I don't think they made the mistake of using cheap components or miscalculating the resistance of the speakers, especially since they redesigned the dolby circuitry to specifically match the acoustics in the C70 (they are different for the coupe and convertible, top up or top down). The Alpine name speaks for itself, and Dynaudio speakers are studio reference quality. The Dolby circuitry uses the center channel speaker and the two side dash speakers to split the front sound signal, creating two floating points in front of both front passengers... amazing! It was designed in a joint effort between Dolby, Alpine, Dynaudio, and Volvo acoustical engineers.

Hope this helps,

-Jon

I love my system, I've had no problems with the sound, other than the HU... it used to play all my cd's, then one day it decided it would be picky with the ones it would play, & now it won't play any of them :( I wonder if there's a relatively easy fix to this...

Yeah the head unit is a whore. I was thinking of getting a brand new one the same as stock unless I can find an aftermarket one that does pro logic. Anyone ever see any? And by the way, what did you guys think about those subs up top in my previous post? /\ They are free air subs, shich KICKS jerk. They are available in 4 ohm or 8 ohm each.
