Asinine
Ok, so I'm shopping for rims, and have found some great prospects. I'm a big fan of the "go big or go home" mantra, but i have some reservations.1) 18's will in all probability require some fender rolling or cutting which leaves easy access for Canadian salty winters.2) I'm frequently off the beaten path during the summer - cottaging, soaring, etc. so ride comfort and discretion on roads would make my driving experiences ... crappyI'm so confused
Gregg
18s will be fine, IF you get correct width, offset, and tire size.don't waste your time with 17s

prasamin
if you're that concerned, then just go with 17's, just make sure they're not ugly.if it ain't that big of a concern, then an 18x7.5" wheel with a 42mm or 43mm offset won't rub that bad. Gregg
bah, 17s are for the little kiddies... or people who want to preserve their ride quality. and my 18s rode better than my 17sit all depends on tire brand/style, size, and inflation
javadoc
and my 18s rode better than my 17sit all depends on tire brand/style, size, and inflationThis is true. Ride quality seems to depend more on your tire/inflation choice than rim size.FWIW, my 17" pegs and 225 cross-section Azenis rub like a sonofabiotch over bumps, but nothing a block of wood, a hammer and a few minutes of your time can't remedy. vasilli
I am too, all about "all or nothing". So I got some 235/45/R17 for my 17x8 rim. And guess what? Had them installed yesterday and they're TOO big. They rub like MAD all over. So bad that I'm actually selling the tires (anybody want them?) and getting 225/45/17.So... width and offset is everything! Be careful. Bigger is not always better.
